LCU Digs Deep To Sweep Cameron

LCU Records Season-High 78 Digs And Nine Blocks In Straight-Set Victory Over Cameron

LAWTON, Okla. (October 2, 2026) – Lubbock Christian University opened its Oklahoma road swing of Lone Star Conference play with a straight-set victory Friday, defeating Cameron 3-0 ( 25-16, 25-12, 25-23) inside Aggie Gym.

The Lady Chaparrals improved to 8-8 overall and 4-2 in LSC play, while Cameron fell to 1-15 and 1-4.

LCU turned in its strongest defensive performance of the season, collecting a season-high 78 digs while holding the Aggies to a .119 attack percentage. The Lady Chaps also recorded nine total blocks behind 18 block assists.

Hope Gonsioroski produced career highs with 11 kills and five blocks, recording her first collegiate double-figure kill performance. Freshman Kayson Reeves added seven kills on a .333 hitting percentage and established a career high with eight block assists.

Camryn Blair finished with nine kills, while Camdyn Sears directed the offense with 31 assists, four kills and nine digs. Sienna Cavalier led LCU with a season-high 13 digs, and Kyla Farnan added a season-best 10.

LCU hit .306 in the opening set before taking command of the second, holding Cameron to a .000 hitting percentage in a 25-12 victory.

The Aggies led 20-19 late in the third, but LCU responded with four of the next five points and held off a late Cameron push to complete the sweep.

Game Notes
» LCU had a season high 78 digs. Along with it being a season-high, it is the highest total in a three-set match since LCU had 89 on Sept. 12, 2019 against Southwestern Oklahoma State. Statistics reveal 14 different Lady Chaps with at least one kill, led by Sienna Cavalier (13) and Kyla Farnan (10), who each had season highs. Cavalier's season high marked her sixth double-figure dig performance of her LCU career and second this season, while Farnan's double-digit effort was the third of her LCU career.

» For a second consecutive match, LCU's opponent served up 11 serving errors, which is a season-high for an LCU opponent this season. The 11 serving errors in a three-set match by an LCU opponent was the most since Arkansas Fort Smith (UAFS) piled up 11 in three sets on Oct. 11, 2018.

» LCU mixed in a road block party, as they had 9.0 team blocks, with a whopping 18 block-assists (assisted blocks and/or combo blocks), which is the second time they have completed the task this season (had 20 at Western Colorado, which was also a three-set match).  Of the 18 combos, Kayson Reeves had  a career-best 8 combo block, which is the most in three-set match since Hannah Thomas had nine against Nebraska Kearney on Sept. 16, 2017, and the most overall since Bryleigh Schweer racked up 9 block assists during a thrilling five-set comeback victory against Texas A&M International.

» Sophomore Hope Gonsioroski had a career-high performance, posting career-high marks in kills 11 (her first double-figure kill performance) and in blocks with 5. Gonsioroski, whose prior career-high in attacks was 22, was fed 40 times for attack attempts.

» LCU improved to 6-6 in straight-set decisions, as 12 of LCU's 16 matches this season have resulted in 3-0 decisions.

» The win places LCU with a 2-4 road record, as they have 3-0 road wins in two of their last three road matches.

» LCU's win places them with a 3-0 all-time record against Cameron in Lawton, where LCU is 9-0 in sets, as all three matches have resulted in 3-0 LCU wins. Friday's meeting was the 11th all-time meeting, with LCU moving to 8-3 in the series after claiming their sixth consecutive win in the series.

How It Happened

SET 1 | LCU 25, CU 16
- The Aggies moved ahead 4-1 before the Lady Chaps answered with a stretch that included a Haley Wheeler ace and blocks involving Kayson Reeves, Hope Gonsioroski and Camdyn Sears to take a 6-4 lead.

SET 2 | LCU 25, CU 12
- Kills by Lundberg and Gonsioroski, both from Sears, helped the Lady Chaps move ahead 4-1 before the Aggies pulled within 4-3.
- After a CU service error made it 5-3, the Lady Chaps won seven of the next eight points, including two blocks by Reeves and Gonsioroski and a Gonsioroski kill, to extend the lead to 12-4.
- The Lady Chaps kept control through the middle of the set, reaching 20-9 after kills by Lundberg and Tatum Fleitman and another Reeves-Gonsioroski block, as LCU had a 16-6 scoring surge.
- Lauren Hanson's ace put the Lady Chaps at set point, and Kristyn Grantham closed the 25-12 set win with a kill from Sears.
- LCU dominated the set despite recording just nine kills. Along with committing just one attack error, the Lady Chaps took advantage of 14 Aggie miscues, including seven attack errors (.000 attack percentage), five serving errors and two assist errors. LCU's defense also did its part, recording three blocks in the set.

SET 3 | LCU 25, CU 23
- CU scored the first five points before the Lady Chaps worked back within 7-5 behind kills from Gonsioroski, Camryn Blair and Reeves.

- Gonsioroski tied the set at 20-20, and the Lady Chaps followed with points from Kat Dulin, Reeves and a Reeves-Gonsioroski block to move ahead 23-20.
- LCU was up 24-21 and had to avoid a late Aggie rally as CU cut the deficit to 24-23 before an attack error by Mavery Salibury sealed the LCU win.
- Camryn Blair (5) and Gonsioroski (4) combined for 9, as it was much needed to counter a 7-kill performance in the set by Maria Osorio.
