MAHALO
Lubbock Christian women's basketball is coming off its third trip to Hawaii and third visit to Honolulu (all-time). The Lady Chaps first traveled to Oahu for the 2013-14 Oahu Classic, defeating BYU-Hawaii 75-48 and Hawaii Pacific 92-80. LCU returned for the 2021 Oahu Thanksgiving Classic, beating Minnesota Crookston 62-42 before earning a 73-52 road win over Hawaii Pacific. Last weekend, LCU returned to Oahu and competed in the Hoops in Hawaii Tip-Off Classic and went 2-1 to finish in fifth place of the tournament.  They fell Friday to Winona State (58-54) and bounced back with a decisive win Saturday over Western Colorado (80-49) and an overtime victory in a battle Sunday with Alaska Anchorage (63-56), which placed LCU with a 6-1 all-time record in Hawaii.

50th-STATE HEARTBREAK FOR THE TEAM FROM 49th STATE
A decade after claiming the 2015-16 NCAA Division II National Championship against Alaska Anchorage, LCU faced the Seawolves for the first time since that historic meeting, earning another victory with a 63-56 overtime triumph in the Hoops in Hawaii Tip-Off Classic. Kennedy Chappell led the Lady Chaparrals with 25 points, including eight in overtime, as LCU outscored Alaska Anchorage 14-7 in the extra period. Meg Meekins added 17 points, all after halftime, while Mattie Dollar contributed 13. The Lady Chaps overcame a three-point halftime deficit and limited the Seawolves to just three points in the third quarter before holding off a late rally to force overtime. The win snapped a three-game overtime losing streak.

CHAP-TIVATING STATS: 5 LADY CHAP FACTS
- LCU (2-1) opens its 2026-27 home schedule with a six-game homestand spanning 15 days inside Rip Griffin Center. The Lady Chaparrals will face four Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference opponents and two Great American Conference programs during the stretch. Following Monday's home opener, LCU will host the Food King Classic (Nov. 13-14) and Lady Chap Classic (Nov. 20-21) before concluding the homestand against Southwestern Oklahoma State on Nov. 23. The Lady Chaps enter the stretch riding a two-game winning streak.

- LCU features three of the Lone Star Conference's top 14 scorers, led by sophomore Mattie Dollar (second, 17.7 points per game), senior Kennedy Chappell (third, 16.7) and sophomore Meg Meekins (14th, 12.0). The trio has combined for 139 of LCU's 197 points, accounting for 70.6% of the team's offensive production. Dollar, a Hoops in Hawaii Tip-Off Classic All-Tournament selection, is the only Lady Chap to score in double figures in all three games. Chappell has reached double figures twice, including a 25-point outing, while Meekins has produced consecutive 17-point performances.

- The Lady Chaps lead the LSC in field-goal percentage at 47.7% (73-of-153), with three players ranked among the conference's top eight in individual shooting percentage. Kennedy Chappell ranks fourth at 61.5% (16-of-26), followed by Meg Meekins in seventh at 55.6% (15-of-27) and Mattie Dollar in eighth at 54.3% (19-of-35). LCU also owns the conference's top single-game shooting performance this season, connecting on 58.6% (34-of-58) of its attempts against Western Colorado. The 34 made field goals are also an LSC single-game high.

- The third quarter has been LCU's most productive period through three games, with the Lady Chaps outscoring opponents 53-28 for a plus-25 scoring advantage. LCU is averaging 17.7 third-quarter points while surrendering just 9.3, highlighted by a 24-10 advantage against Western Colorado and an 11-3 defensive shutdown of Alaska Anchorage. Opponents have been held to 10 or fewer third-quarter points in consecutive games. The Lady Chaps have also established a plus-20 first-quarter scoring margin (54-34), but have been outscored 47-38 in both the second and fourth quarters.

- LCU ranks third in the LSC in scoring defense (54.3 points allowed per game) and second in three-point field-goal percentage defense, limiting opponents to 22.0% (11-of-50) from beyond the arc. The Lady Chaps have held all three opponents below 60 points and rank third in turnover margin (plus-3.0), forcing 47 turnovers while committing 38. Rebounding remains an area of concern, however, as LCU averages 29.0 boards against 34.0 for opponents. The Lady Chaps rank last among the seven teams currently reflected in the LSC statistics in offensive rebounding, averaging just 4.7 per game.

Defensively, opponents have recorded 32 steals and 11 blocked shots against Western through three games.

- Western Colorado begins its first season under head coach K.C. Bassett, who inherited a program coming off consecutive RMAC Tournament appearances and a 16-11 record last season. Bassett previously compiled a 231-115 record across 11 seasons at Sterling College, winning three conference regular-season championships and three tournament titles. The Mountaineers were picked 11th in the RMAC preseason poll. Bassett's staff includes assistant coach Kenedee Winfrey, who completed her collegiate playing career at West Texas A&M last season after previously playing at UNLV. Winfrey has a family connection to LCU, as her older sister, Brylee Winfrey, was a member of the Lady Chaparrals' 2020-21 NCAA Division II national championship team. Monday's contest marks Western's first true road game of the season following three neutral-site contests in Hawaii.
