SPICEWOOD, Texas (February 2, 2026) - Lubbock Christian University opened its spring schedule Monday with a fifth-place showing after the first round of the Jack Brown Memorial Invitational, hosted by Texas A&M International at Lakecliff Golf Club .

The Lady Chaps posted a team score of 318 (+34) in the opening round of the two-day, 54-hole event, finishing the day within four strokes of fourth place in a tightly packed team leaderboard. Blinn College led the field after Round 1 at +15, followed by Angelo State A (+20) and host TAMIU (+27).

Senior Ali Escamilla paced LCU with a steady round of 72 (+1), tying for second individually in a field of more than 50 competitors. Escamilla carded a 34 on the front nine and followed with a 38 on the back, recording three birdies while limiting damage throughout the round. Her performance kept LCU within striking distance of the top four entering Tuesday's second round.

Anaya Perales and
Nadalie Cannell each finished at 81 (+10), tying for 24th individually. Cannell recovered nicely on the back nine with a 37 after an opening 44, while Perales steadied her round with a consistent inward nine of 40. Freshman Abby Archunde, making her LCU debut after spending the fall at UT Permian Basin, posted an 84 (+13), gaining valuable competitive experience in her first collegiate round with the Lady Chaps.

Junior Haliey Hays also carded an 84 while competing as LCU's non-scoring individual.
Two Lady Chaps competed unattached in the opening round. Freshman
Kilee Ivy posted an 89 (+18), while junior
Maryona Lusk finished at 94 (+23), as both gained tournament experience while competing independently from the team lineup.

Individually, Daniah Syed leads the tournament after an opening-round 70 (-1), with Escamilla among a group tied for second at +1.

LCU will look to climb the standings when play resumes Tuesday with the second round at Lakecliff Golf Club, continuing its first event of the spring portion of the 2025–26 season.
