LUBBOCK, Texas (March 14, 2026) – Lubbock Christian University tallied 18 run and 22 hits across two games on Saturday afternoon, earning wins by scores of 7-5 and 11-4 against Texas A&M International at Hays Field.
Â
It was a total team effort on offense, with eight of the nine Chap starters collecting hits in the first game and all nine securing at least one safety in the second contest. The last time all nine LCU starters had a hit in a game was Feb. 8, 2025 against Sul Ross – a game that they collected 23 total hits in.
Â
The Chaps have now won five straight games, which is their longest streak of the season, and are above .500 for the first time this year at 13-12.
Â
GAME ONE
Lubbock Christian took an early lead in the first inning with a powerful offensive display.
Kyle Lewis led off with a walk and advanced to third on
Hudson Grace's double.
Owen Alsup then singled up the middle, driving in both Lewis and Grace.
Carlos Mauldin capped the inning with a ground-rule double, scoring
Owen Alsup and
Jorge De Los Santos, resulting in a 4-0 advantage after one inning.
Â
TAMIU responded with two runs in the top half of the third inning, cutting the lead to 4-2, but in the bottom of the frame,
Roe Forrest extended the lead with a solo home run to deep right field, making it 5-2.
Â
The Chaps expanded their lead in the fourth inning.
Tanner Pachorek singled, followed by a
Dylan Marx double.
Kyle Lewis then delivered a two-RBI single, boosting the lead to 7-2 through four innings.
Â
Texas AM International narrowed the gap in the fifth inning, scoring three runs to make it a 7-5 game. Despite the pressure, the Chaparrals' pitching held firm in the final innings, preventing any additional scoring from TAMIU.
Â
Evan Roach took the mound in relief in the sixth and after issuing a leadoff walk, did not allow another batter to reach, closing out the Chaparral win and earning his first save of the year in the process.
Â
GAME TWO
TAMIU got on the board first in the second game of the day, scratching across a run in the top of the second against Chap starter
Aaron Rubio.
Â
But the Chaparrals didn't trail for long, taking the lead for good in the bottom of the second. They used hits from De Los Santos,
Freddie Nolen and Grace to plate three runs before the frame ended.
Â
The offense exploded in the third inning as the Chaps sent 12 batters to the plate and scored seven times. Alsup scored on Forrest's single to center.
Johnny Gomez III then hit a three-run homer to left field, and Nolen followed with a solo homer to right center.
Hudson Grace capped the inning with a two-run double, extending the lead to 10-1.
Â
Gargett homered to right center in the fourth inning, bringing the score to 11-1.
Â
TAMIU scratched across one more run against Rubio in the sixth, and plated another two in the seventh against
Griffin Binkley before
Will Cooper came in to close out the game. He induced a double play and a lineout to secure the Chaparral win.
Â
Rubio delivered another strong performance, pitching six innings while scattering eight hits and 2 earned runs, striking out four batters with no walks. His ERA remains at 2.97, which is fourth-best among qualified pitchers in the Lone Star Conference.
Â
GAME NOTES:
- The back-to-back homers from Gomez and Nolen in the second game are the first by a pair of Chaps since April 17, 2025 when Brevin McCool and Jacob Gutierrez did it

- Lubbock Christian hit .470 (8-for-17) with runners in scoring position in the two games combined
