GUNNISON, Colo. (August 28, 2026) – Lubbock Christian University volleyball improved to 2-0 Friday with its second sweep of the day, defeating Sul Ross State 25-18, 25-21, 25-15 at Paul Wright Gym to complete the opening day of games at Virginia Harris/Jeanie Miller Invitational.
The Lady Chaparrals posted a .376 attack percentage with 45 kills against just 10 errors, while holding Sul Ross State to 29 kills and a .184 clip. LCU was especially sharp through the opening two sets, hitting .556 in the first and .467 in the second.
Leigh Jespersen led the offense with 12 kills on a .524 hitting percentage for her first double-figure kill performance as a Lady Chap.
Camryn Blair added 11 kills while hitting .333, giving her consecutive double-figure kill performances to open the season.
Kayson Reeves provided an efficient eight kills without an attack error on 11 attempts, finishing with a .727 hitting percentage.
Tatum Fleitman added five kills on a .400 clip, while
Aubree Lundberg contributed five kills and a team-high five blocks.
Camdyn Sears directed the offense with 30 assists, three kills and six digs as LCU finished with 40 assists overall. Jespersen also supplied three of the Lady Chaps' five service aces.
The win gave LCU its first 2-0 start since 2023 and extended its winning streak over Sul Ross State to 21 matches. The Lady Chaps have swept the Lobos in each of the last 10 meetings.
