ALPINE, Texas (September 17, 2026) – The defending Lone Star Conference regular season co-champion Lubbock Christian University Lady Chaparrals open Lone Star Conference play on the road Thursday facing Sul Ross State at 6 p.m. inside Gallegos Center. Their conference-opening trip continues Saturday in Silver, City, N.M., where they will face Western New Mexico at 1 p.m. (CT) at Drag's Court.

LADY CHAP NOTES
- LCU opens Lone Star Conference play Thursday at Sul Ross State with a 4-6 overall record after completing its nonconference schedule at the LSC Challenge in San Angelo. The Lady Chaps dropped matches to West Texas A&M and No. 9 Angelo State last weekend, extending their current skid to three matches. LCU finished the nonconference portion of its schedule 4-3 in neutral-site matches and 0-3 in true road contests. Thursday marks the beginning of an 18-match LSC schedule for a Lady Chap squad that shared the conference regular-season title in 2025
 
- The Lady Chaps completed a difficult closing stretch to nonconference play, facing four nationally ranked opponents over their final six matches. LCU faced No. 1 St. Cloud State, No. 21 Lynn, No. 13 Barry and No. 9 Angelo State during that span, going 1-5 overall with its victory coming against Converse. LCU enters conference play 0-4 against nationally ranked opponents this season and has dropped 11 consecutive matches against ranked teams since defeating No. 25 West Texas A&M on Nov. 6, 2021.
 
- Despite the four-set loss to Angelo State, LCU matched its season high with 65 digs, equaling the total recorded against Converse on Sept. 5. Ramsey Clark led the Lady Chaps with 18 digs, Camdyn Sears added 14 and Lauren Hanson established a career high with 11. It marked the first time this season LCU had three players reach double figures in digs in the same match. The Lady Chaps have now raised their season average to 14.03 digs per set.
 
- Sophomore setter Camdyn Sears enters Lone Star Conference play with four double-doubles through 10 matches. Sears recorded 32 assists and 14 digs against Angelo State for her second consecutive double-double after finishing with 20 assists and a season-high 16 digs against West Texas A&M. She now has 251 assists and 97 digs this season, averaging 7.84 assists and 3.03 digs per set. Sears ranks fifth in the LSC in assists per set and has 28 career double-doubles during her LCU career.
 
-  Freshman middle blocker Kayson Reeves continues to provide LCU with its most efficient attacking presence. Reeves is hitting .301 through 10 matches, ranking 13th in the Lone Star Conference, while totaling 67 kills and a team-leading 30 blocks. She averages 0.94 blocks per set and has recorded at least two blocks in eight of LCU's 10 matches. Against No. 9 Angelo State, Reeves finished with seven kills on a .316 hitting percentage while adding three blocks.
 
- Camryn Blair continues to lead LCU in kills and points entering conference play. Blair has 84 kills through 29 sets, averaging 2.90 per set, and has produced 101.0 total points. She ranks 13th in the LSC in kills per set and 11th in points per set at 3.48. Blair also has 17 total blocks and seven service aces. Her season high remains 17 kills against Converse, when she also established career highs with four aces and 22.0 points..
 
- Aubree Lundberg turned in her most efficient performance of the season against Angelo State, recording six kills without an error on 15 attempts for a .400 hitting percentage. Lundberg has 33 kills and 20 total blocks through 27 sets while averaging 0.74 blocks per set. Her 20 blocks rank second on the team behind Reeves, while Tatum Fleitman and Blair each have 17.
 
- Blocking remains LCU's strongest team category entering Lone Star Conference play. The Lady Chaps average 1.94 blocks per set, ranking seventh in the LSC and 75th nationally. LCU has totaled 62.0 blocks through 32 sets, led by Reeves with 30. The Lady Chaps recorded 10 blocks against Angelo State, their second double-digit blocking performance of the season after posting 10 against Western Colorado.
 
- LCU enters conference play averaging 10.94 kills, 9.91 assists, 14.03 digs, 1.47 service aces and 1.94 blocks per set while hitting .137. The Lady Chaps rank fifth in the LSC individually in assists per set behind Sears' 7.84 mark, while Reeves ranks 13th in hitting percentage at .301 and 11th in blocks per set at 0.94. Clark leads the back row with 114 digs and averages 3.56 per set, while Sears is second on the team with 97 digs.
 
LOOKING AT SRSU
- LCU and Sul Ross State meet for the 52nd time Thursday, with the Lady Chaparrals holding a 40-11 advantage in the all-time series. The teams already met once this season, with LCU sweeping the Lobos 3-0 (25-18, 25-21, 25-15) on Aug. 28 in Gunnison, Colo. The victory extended LCU's winning streak in the series to 21 matches and marked the 10th consecutive sweep of Sul Ross. The Lobos have not taken a set from LCU since Nov. 6, 1993. Thursday's meeting will also mark LCU's first trip to Alpine since 1995.
 
-  Sul Ross State enters Lone Star Conference play at 0-10 overall under first-year head coach Hollie King. The Lobos have played eight neutral-site matches and two true road contests without a home match yet this season. They most recently competed in Laredo, Texas, falling in straight sets to Texas A&M International before pushing Eastern New Mexico to five sets in a 3-2 loss. Sul Ross won the opening two sets against ENMU, 25-19 and 25-20, before the Greyhounds rallied to take the final three. Thursday will be Sul Ross State's home opener.
 
- Freshman opposite Antyiahna Lang has emerged as Sul Ross State's top offensive option. Lang leads the Lobos with 83 kills through 34 sets, averaging 2.44 per set, and is hitting .268. She is the only Sul Ross player currently listed among the NCAA statistical rankings in hitting percentage, sitting 21st in the Lone Star Conference. Libby Foster follows with 51 kills, while Anayah Sinclair has 38 and McKenzie Hart has 36. Madelyn Patterson has been the team's most efficient attacker in limited volume, hitting .300 with 25 kills.
 
- Sul Ross has primarily used a two-setter approach with Mia Espinoza and Violeta Flores. Espinoza leads the team with 131 assists and averages 3.97 per set, while Flores has 115 assists at 3.38 per set. Flores also leads the Lobos with 10 service aces. Defensively, Espinoza has a team-high 60 digs, followed by Flores with 56 and Emily Scott with 53. As a team, Sul Ross averages 8.79 kills, 8.29 assists, 11.29 digs and 0.71 aces per set while hitting .113.
 
- The Lobos have faced significant challenges statistically through the opening 10 matches. Opponents are hitting .283 against Sul Ross and averaging 13.68 kills, 12.47 assists and 2.26 service aces per set. Sul Ross ranks 18th in the LSC in aces, assists, digs, kills, opponent hitting percentage and team attacks per set, while ranking 17th in hitting percentage. At the net, the Lobos average 1.38 blocks per set, led by Hart with 21 total blocks and Sinclair and Lang with 13 apiece.
