LADY CHAP HEADERS

• Lubbock Christian University faces a tough task on Wednesday as they continue their homestand, hosting undefeated Midwestern State at 7 p.m. on Wednesday night
• With a 2-0-2 league record, the Lady Chaps now have eight points, putting them in sole possession of sixth place in the LSC standings, and they are one of the five unbeaten teams in league play
• Three Lone Star Conference teams remain undefeated overall this season, including Midwestern State (8-0), Texas Woman's (8-0) and Dallas Baptist (7-0)
• Logan Holloway scored her fourth goal of the season against the Rambelles and now has nine points on the season, which is tied for the eighth-most in the LSC
• LCU has only lost once through its first eight matches, making this their best start to a season since 2021, when they did not lose their second match until the 10th game of the year

 
AWARD CENTRAL
Lubbock Christian University goalkeeper Emma Wright was named the Lone Star Conference Goalkeeper of the Week, the league announced on Monday. Wright notched two clean sheets and made 15 saves as LCU remained undefeated in LSC play. Against Sul Ross, she set a new career high with 10 saves, becoming the first Lady Chap to reach the double-digit save mark in a game since 2023. She followed it up with five more saves against Angelo State in a 2-0 LCU win.
 
ALL THE WRIGHT PLACES
The Longview, Texas, native now boasts a save percentage of .854 this season, which is the fourth-best mark in the conference. In seven games, Wright has faced 78 shots and allowed just six goals for a goals against average of 0.86. She has 35 saves overall. Wright surpassed the 100-save mark for her LCU career earlier this season and is now at 133 as a Lady Chap. She has a career save percentage of .811 and her goals against average is 0.98 in 34 games played. She is 14-11-6 in her collegiate career.
 
FIRST THINGS FIRST
Lubbock Christian has been most successful this season when they are the first team to find the back of the net. In games in which they score first, they are a perfect 4-0-0. Conversely, they are 1-1-1 in the three games where the opposing team has scored first. Their one comeback win this season came at Oklahoma Christian, when the allowed a goal in the sixth minute but came back to win 2-1. Furthermore, LCU is 3-0-0 in games where they lead at halftime.
 
TAKING ON THE TOP 25
This is the first time this season that Lubbock Christian has taken on an opponent ranked in the top 25 nationally. Last season, LCU played only one ranked opponents and lost, to No. 4 Colorado School of Mines. In the 2022 season, the Lady Chaps earned a pair of draws against ranked opponents, including a 1-1 showing against No. 1 Dallas Baptist. Their last win against an opponent in the top-25 was also against the Patriots, in 2021. DBU was ranked No. 12, but the Lady Chaps shut them out 1-0 for their first and only win against a ranked opponent.
 
IN THEIR DEFENSE
The Lady Chaps notched their second-straight and third shutout of the season in the win against Angelo State. They allowed just seven shots total, which is the fewest they have allowed in a game this season. LCU has a goals against average of just 0.88 this season, which is the sixth-best mark in the LSC. Lady Chap opponents are averaging just 11.0 shots per game and have put 54.5 percent of those shots on goal. Freshman Araceli Patterson has anchored the back line, leading the team with 629 minutes of play in her inaugural collegiate campaign.
 
OFFENSIVE OUTPUT
Lubbock Christian scored twice against Angelo State, raising their scoring average to 2.25. which is tied for the fifth-best in the league. The Lady Chaps are averaging 12.6 shots per game and have put 53.5 percent of those on goal. Holloway leads the team in points with nine and has a LCU-leading four goals. A whopping nine LCU players have found the back of the net at least once this season. The team leader in assists in Lauren Rotan, who has three, while Journey Curs leads the team in shots with 14.
 
SCOUTING THE MUSTANGS

• Midwestern State is one of just five teams remaining in Division II soccer that has not allowed a single goal yet this season and has therefore claimed the LSC's defensive player of the week award in three out of the four weeks of the season
• The Mustangs have a plus-24 goal differential, which is tied with DBU for the best mark in the country
• MSU also ranks third in the country in assists with 26, averaging 3.25 helpers per game
• Senior Lexi Gonzalez leads the team with 12 points, having scored four goals and assisted four others
• MSU alumnus Ryan Spence is in his ninth season leading the Mustangs, posting a record of 69-59-27 during his time at the helm
