LUBBOCK, Texas (September 26, 2026) – Lubbock Christian University completed a perfect opening weekend at home Saturday with a dominant 3-0 (25-10, 25-7, 25-18) sweep of St. Edward's behind a rare feat in Lone Star Conference play inside Rip Griffin Center.
The Lady Chaparrals improved to 7-7 overall, 3-1 in LSC play and 2-0 at home, while St. Edward's fell to 7-7 and 2-2.
LCU overwhelmed the Hilltoppers with 14 total blocks and 10 service aces, marking the first time in the rally-scoring era, dating to 2008, the Lady Chaps reached double figures in both categories in the same match. St. Edward's was limited to 17 kills and a -.095 attack percentage.
Tatum Fleitman led the defensive effort with a career-high eight blocks, including four solo, while adding three kills.
Kayson Reeves contributed five blocks and five kills.
Camryn Blair led LCU offensively with eight kills on a .462 hitting percentage, while
Hope Gonsioroski established a career high with seven kills.
Camdyn Sears added six kills on eight attempts, 18 assists and 10 digs for her seventh double-double of the season and 30th of her LCU career.
Haley Wheeler continued her strong serving weekend with a career-high four aces, giving her seven through LCU's first two home matches.
LCU hit .325 overall, including .529 without an attack error in the second set, while improving to 20-10 all-time against St. Edward's.

» LCU accumulated 10 serving aces and 14.0 blocks in the match. It marks the first time under the current modern rally scoring era (started in 2008) in which LCU achieved double-figure totals in both categories in the same match.
» LCU followed Friday's match of 12 serving aces with 10 Saturday. It marked the first time since Sept. 14, 2018 (13 vs. Newman) and Sept. 22, 2018 (12 vs. Northwestern Okla. St.) in which LCU had at least 10 aces in in consecutive matches.

Haley Wheeler has found a home at the service line inside Rip Griffin Center. After turning heads with her serving performance in a preseason scrimmage at The Rip, Wheeler carried that production into the regular season. She followed a season-high — and career-high — three aces Friday with a new career-high four aces Saturday. Wheeler entered the weekend with four aces on the season and now has seven in two home matches.
» The Lady Chaps produced 14.0 blocks, which is the highest block total since 16 on Oct. 12, 2024 against Texas A&M International.
Tatum Fleitman claimed a new career high with 8 blocks (4 solo), surpassing her prior high of 7.
» LCU's 14.0 blocks caused havoc on SEU, who had a minus attack percentage of -.095 and 17 kills. The 17 kills was the lowest mark by an LCU opponent since Eastern New Mexico had 17 on Oct. 7, 2025 and the attack percentage of -.095 was the lowest by an LCU opponent since Texas A&M International hit -.102 on Oct. 1, 2016. For SEU, their 17 kills was the team's lowest since they had 12 on Oct. 2, 2015, and their attack mark was their lowest on file of game-by-game statistics going back to start of 2012 season.

» Saturday's matchup marked the 30

Ramsey Clark's serve to build a 7-0 lead.

Haley Wheeler added an ace and
Kayson Reeves assisted on a block as the Lady Chaparrals pushed the margin to 13-3.
- The Lady Chaparrals kept extending the set behind kills from Blair, Sears and
Hope Gonsioroski, moving ahead 20-7.
- Fleitman's kill made it 21-9, and after the teams traded points, Reeves and Sears added kills before Wheeler's ace finished the 25-10 set.

Aubree Lundberg, Sears and Gonsioroski helped the Lady Chaparrals stretch the lead to 17-9 (8-2 run) before the Hilltoppers won six straight points, including two Giselle Ojeda aces, to get within 17-15.
