SEU: AUSTIN, Texas (November 6, 2014) – Paced by a game and season-high 17 kills from Abby White, Lubbock Christian closed out its second Heartland Conference campaign with a 3-1 win over St. Edward's Thursday night at Recreation and Convocation Center to clinch a second place finish within the league. Coming into the contest, the Lady Chaps (17-5, 13-3 Heartland) sat a game ahead of the Hilltoppers (16-7, 10-5 Heartland), and with the win LCU doubled its margin to two games with a single match remaining on SEU's slate to solely finish in the number two spot with a 13-3 Heartland Conference record. The 13 wins match last season's conference victories.
Setter of the Week goes to Powell
WACO, Texas (October 5, 2015) – Mallory Powell of Lubbock Christian University notched her second Heartland Conference Setter of the Week honor on the season, as announced by the league office on Monday. The redshirt sophomore played a big part in a pair of LCU wins last week. Against No. 20-NAIA Wayland Baptist, Powell tied a career-high with 51 assists. In the sweep of Oklahoma Panhandle State, the Aledo High School product handed out a game-high 33 assists and recorded four blocks. On the week, Powell averaged 12 assists per set and also contributed 14 digs, five blocks and five kills.
Late six-point rally salvages Lady Chap sweep
LUBBOCK, Texas (October 2, 2015) – A six-point run by Lubbock Christian University at the conclusion of set three against Oklahoma Panhandle State saved a 3-0 match sweep for the Lady Chaparrals Thursday night inside the Rip Griffin Center as LCU captured straight sets by scores of 25-11, 25-9 and 26-24. The Lady Chaps (9-6, 4-2 Heartland) have never lost a match in 20 attempts versus the Aggies (1-14, 0-6 Heartland) and had swept every contest dating to 1983. On the night, 10 kills each by Maddie Johnson and Emily Hanaway led LCU. Mallory Powell compiled a game-high 33 assists, and Kelsie French led the defense with 17 digs. Offensively, the Lady Chaps hit a season-best .337 and their 11 errors tied for the lowest on the year.
