Highlights
Lubbock Christian University traveled to Wichita, Kan. for a Heartland Conference match against Newman University. For the second evening in a row, LCU pulled off a victory in the form of straight sets.
Camille Porco proved to be the X-factor, for the Lady Chaps, as she picked up a career-high .700 attack percentage. Lubbock Christian is now 13-9 on the season and 6-2 in conference play. The Lady Chaps remain in third place in Heartland Conference standings.
How It Happened
Set One
Newman University recorded the first two points of the evening with a kill by Emily Harvey and an ace by Aliya Higginbotham.
Camille Porco answered with back-to-back aces to help the Lady Chaps take a 5-4 lead. From that point on, LCU never trailed the Jets again. Newman did manage to tie up the score four different times, but LCU's offense proved to be too much.
Lauren Zoller and
Emily Hanaway racked up four kills each to help the Lady Chaps pull away.
Emily Hanaway notched the final point of the set to claim the 25-18 victory for Lubbock Christian.
Set Two
The Lady Chaps maintained the momentum, as they kicked off the second set with a 14-3 run.
Christiana Tavo decided to step in the LCU spotlight with four kills and two blocks. Froeschl also got into the mix with three kills and two blocks of her own. The Lady Chaps combined for an impressive .370 attack percentage and finished the set on a 6-1 run. With an explosive offense and a defense that grabbed 17 digs, Lubbock Christian steamrolled their way to a 25-13 victory in the set.
Set Three
Riding a two-set wave, the Lady Chaps jumped out to a 2-0 lead on a block by
Emily Hanaway and
Camille Porco. A kill from Kayla Turner allowed the Jets to avert another Lubbock Christian offensive explosion and ultimately take a 12-11 lead in the middle of the set. A Newman attack error allowed the Lady Chaps to regain their lead at 14-13. Jarin Braithwait scored her final kill of the evening to restore the lead for the Jets at 15-14. However, LCU stepped on the gas and turned an 8-1 run into a 22-16 lead.
Emily Hanaway recorded the final kill of the match put her stamp on a 25-20 Lubbock Christian victory.

Emily Hanaway had nine kills and an ace for the evening. Her final kill put a bow on the match and gave the Lady Chaps their second consecutive 3-0 victory.

Camille Porco had seven kills on 10 attempts to collect a .700 hitting percentage. She also had three aces and a dig to close out a memorable night.
.313 –
Christiana Tavo recorded eight kills and a .313 attack percentage for the evening. The Lady Chaps have won all three games in which Tavo has an attack percentage of .300 or over.
11 – Newman's Emily Harvey marked 11 kills for her second straight game. She ranks second in the conference with 277 total kills.

The Lady Chaps will travel to Fort Smith, Ark. to take on Arkansas Fort Smith for a Heartland Conference tilt on Saturday. Lubbock Christian lost their previous meeting with Arkansas Fort Smith and will be looking to even the regular season series.
