LCU Honoring Lady Chaps In Their Final Season, Hosting St. Edward's

Lady Chaps Look For Strong Finish To Regular Season

LUBBOCK, Texas (November 5, 2016) – Lubbock Christian University (16-10, 9-3) remains in action Saturday, as they take on the St. Edward's University Hilltoppers in Rip Griffin Center for a Heartland Conference scrap. The Lady Chaps are looking for revenge as they lost in five sets to the Hilltoppers earlier this season (10/6/16). LCU is riding a three-game hot streak in which they have defeated their last three opponents in straight-set style. Lubbock Christian remains in second place in the Heartland Conference standings. The Lady Chaps enter with an 8-5 all-time record against the Hilltoppers, with the Hilltoppers winning the prior meeting 3-2 (Oct. 6). Saturday is Senior Day for the Lady Chaps. Lubbock Christian University will be recognizing Ariel Froeschl and Christiana Tavo for their outstanding performances on the court and in the classroom during their time at LCU.

- St. Edward's enters this contest having lost four of their last five matches. After sitting in second place of the conference standings for a portion of this season, St. Edward's has fallen to fourth place in the standings.
- SEU was picked to finish sixth in Heartland Conference preseason polls. The Hilltoppers have a 10-16 overall record and an 8-4 record in Heartland play.
-  St. Edward's is currently ranked first in the nation with 40.63 team attacks per set. As a squad, they also rank 22nd in the country in team total attacks (3,738).
- Mikayla Parker has defended the net phenomenally for the Hilltoppers as she ranks first in the Heartland with 1.09 blocks per set and 96 total blocks.
- Morgan Beckham has been a defensive virtuoso for St. Edward's as she has averaged 6.53 digs per set. She ranks fifth in the nation in the category.
 
GAME NOTES
- Lubbock Christian is looking to finish the regular season in compelling fashion. Two home matches are all that remain between the Lady Chaps and the 2016 post season. LCU is 8-1 at home this season.
- As a team, LCU marked a season-high 67 kills and 112 digs in their last showdown with St. Edward's (10/3/16).
- LCU has crushed their opposition in first chance points as they lead the Heartland with 147 total team aces.
Kelsie French has been a defensive stud for the Lady Chaps. She has racked up 5.74 digs per set and ranks 16th nationally, with 557 total digs in 97 sets played.
Emily Hanaway has provided the pop for Lubbock Christian's offense this year. She has tallied 310 kills and leads the Heartland in the total kills column.
- Earlier this week, Mallory Powell was named the Heartland Conference Setter of the Week for the fourth time this season. Powell is coming off of her 14th double-double where she recorded 43 assists and 14 digs in LCU's match against Dallas Baptist on Thursday night. She is first in the Heartland in assists per set (9.83) and total assists (802).
-  Lubbock Christian University will be honoring two seniors in Ariel Froeschl and Christiana Tavo. Froeschl (77) and Tavo (76) lead the Lady Chaps in the block category. The seniors have been major contributors to LCU's .134 opponent hitting percentage, which ranks 23rd in the country.
