How It Happened

Set One:
The opening set was initially a tight one, with the score tied on seven occasions and five lead changes. The score was never separated by more than three points until UAFS led 18-15. They led as much as 22-17 before claiming the set 25-21. The teams combined for 31 kills in the opening set (16 by UAFS). Pulotu Manoa produced a whopping eight kills for the Lady Lions in the set, while LCU received four from Emily Hanaway. LCU's Kelsie French had a strong set with 11 digs.

Set Two:
Leah Roberson had a pair of kills and a block to lead a spirited Lady Chaps bunch to a 10-4 lead to open the second set. Anna Demmer pounded eight kills and three occurred during a 6-0 UAFS run to tie the set 10-10. LCU scored seven of the next 10 points en route to taking the set 25-21 to tie the match at 1-1. LCU produced all four of their team blocks during the match in the second set, with three by Jaiden Kennedy. Channing Stewart led LCU with four of the team's 16 kills, as LCU produced a .268 attack mark in the set.

Set Three:
Any momentum LCU would take into the third set would quickly evaporate, as UAFS opened the set on a 5-0 run, which was part of a 12-2 run to open the set. UAFS would also score the final seven points of the set, clubbing the Lady Chaps 25-6. The two teams went from 31 combined kills in the first set to 13 combined in the third set. LCU was held to five kills, with three by Stewart. The Lady Chaps were plagued by 12 attack errors, hitting a miserable -.200 in the set.

Set Four:
The fourth set was not much different, with UAFS opening the set with a 14-3 lead. They had little trouble completing the match win with a 25-10 set victory in the fourth set. Rachel Williams produced four kills in the set, while LCU was held to five kills for a second straight set (two by Lauren Zoller).
