Paul Gilbert has released his 2018 schedule consisting of 19 dates. The Chaparrals will open with a five-game non-conference schedule, with four matches on the road. Heartland Conference play is scheduled to begin for the Chaps Thursday, Sept. 13 at LCU Soccer Field against West Texas A&M University.
LCU's regular season play will kick off with a two-game road stint for the Chaparrals, starting with a tilt in Colorado Springs, Colo. against Colorado Colorado Springs (UCCS) Friday, Aug. 31. Two days later, Gilbert and his squad will travel to Lakewood, Colo. for a bout against Colorado Christian University. LCU will then make their way home for the season's home opener, and their final non-conference matchup, hosting Southern Nazarene University Saturday, Sept. 8.
Gilbert has marked a total of eight home contests for the season, with six of those matches coming against Heartland opponents. Lubbock Christian will play West Division opponents West Texas A&M, Eastern New Mexico and Texas – Permian Basin two times each in a home-and-home format. As for the remaining Heartland members in the North and South Divisions, LCU will face off against those opponents one time each throughout the season.
The Chaparrals will close out their home schedule with a bout against Rogers State Saturday, Oct. 13 (1 p.m. kickoff). Their regular season will then come to a close following four consecutive road games culminating in a trip to Odessa, Texas against Texas – Permian Basin.
The 2018 season will mark Gilbert's third season at the helm of the Chaparral program. LCU concluded their 2017 campaign with a 5-11-2 overall record and a 4-8-2 mark in conference matches.
