Lady Chaps Close Out Opening Week of Conference Play in Laredo

LCU Seeks Longest Win Streak Since 2011

LAREDO, Texas (September 29, 2018) – The Lubbock Christian University Lady Chaparrals look for their longest win streak since 2011 and seek a 2-0 start to their Heartland Conference schedule Saturday on the road facing Texas A&M International. LCU has won their last six matches and won their first Heartland Conference opener since 2015 Thursday with a 3-0 win over St. Mary's. LCU has won 18 of their last 19 sets played during their current six-match win streak.

TEXAS A&M INTERNATIONAL | Sat., Sep. 29 | 12:00 p.m.
- The Lady Chaps are a perfect 13-0 against the Dustdevils all-time. Nine of the 13 victories have come in 3-0 sweeps for LCU.
- TAMIU has dropped their last three matches and will take a 2-13 record into Saturday's match against LCU. The Dustdevils are off to a 0-1 start in Heartland play after a 3-0 loss Tuesday to St. Mary's. The Heartland Conference Preseason Poll slated TAMIU last (seventh) and they are aiming to end a 17-match conference losing skid.
- The Dustdevils best category on the conference statistical leaderboard is serving aces, entering the week ranking third in the conference in aces per set (1.35).
- TAMIU is 0-2 at home this season and have lost their last 10 home matches. Oct. 17, 2015 marked their last home win.
- Annie Deininger leads the Dustdevils in kills with 117 this season. She also leads the squad in blocks with 41 (12 solo).

GAME NOTES
- Lubbock Christian takes a 10-6 record into the contest and they are 3-1 in true road matches this season. They are currently on a six-match win streak, which is their best since a six-match win streak in November of 2016. If they can extend their win streak to seven, it would be their best since an 11-match win streak in September of 2011 and their best since joining NCAA Division II status.
- LCU improved to 4-2 in Heartland Conference openers with their win Thursday. They went 17-1 in Sooner Athletic Conference openers prior to becoming Heartland Conference members. Head coach Jennifer Lawrence is 11-4 in conference openers.
- Serving aces have have developed into an intriguing story this season. The Lady Chaps have experienced the highs (13 aces Sept. 14 vs. Newman and on Sept. 22 vs. Northwestern Oklahoma State, which tied a program single-match high under head coach Jennifer Lawrence) and lows (0 against Southwestern Okla. State on Sept. 6) from the serving line this season. LCU leads the Heartland Conference in aces per set (1.6) and total aces (85). Maddie DeGuire, who became the first player in program history to have consecutive matches with at least six aces last week, leads the conference in aces per set with 0.56 (17th nationally). DeGuire leads the Heartland and is 16th nationally with 29 aces this season.
- Marshall leads the Heartland Conference and ranks 56th nationally with 10.3 assists per set, which ranks ninth among all freshmen. She posted 41 assists Thursday, which matched a season-high for a three-set match. LCU leads the Heartland Conference in assists per set (11.7).
- Kelsie French leads the Heartland Conference in digs per set (5.9) and entered the week ranking 15th nationally in the category. French is 21st nationally in total digs (321) and her career mark of 2,292 ranks second among NCAA Division II active career leaders.
- Bradi Marshall (41 assists, 15 digs) and Lauren Zoller (14 kills, 10 digs) are each coming off double-doubles Thursday, which were each their team co-leading fifth of the season. Zoller ranks second in the Heartland Conference with 3.48 kills per set.
- Thursday, LCU had several season highs for three-set matches. They had 147 attacks, 81 digs and 9.0 blocks, which were each season highs for three-set matches. Their 147 attacks were the most in a three-set match since they had 147 against Westminster College in their 2017 season opener (Sept. 1, 2017). The 81 digs were the most in a three-set match since they combined for 85 on Nov. 19, 2016 at Arkansas – Fort Smith. Their 9.0 blocks (four by Leah Roberson) were the most in a three-set match since Sept. 16, 2017, as they combined for 11.0 in a loss to Nebraska-Kearney.
