Lady Chaps Hosting Washburn Friday

LCU Aims For First Home Win for 2018

LUBBOCK, Texas (September 7, 2018) – The Lubbock Christian University Lady Chaparrals continue play in the Chap Classic Friday, hosting Washburn at 6 p.m. inside Rip Griffin Center. The Lady Chaps aim to improve a 4-5 record and a two-match losing streak. The also look to top an undefeated Wahburn squad.

- LCU and Washburn are meeting for the first time all-time. LCU is 22-6 all-time against Kansas based programs and 15-1 outside of facing Newman (among Kansas based programs). LCU is 1-0 this season against Kansas based programs after a 3-0 win over Emporia State on Aug. 24.
- Washburn is a member of the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAA). They went 18-14 overall last season, with an 8-10 mark in conference play.  They are preseason picked fifth in the MIAA this season.
- The Ichabods are off to a 9-0 start this season. They opened the Chap Classic Friday morning with a 3-0 win over Arkansas-Monticello. They enter the weekend one of 15 programs without a loss this season.
- Under head coach Chris Herron, Washburn is 235-31 in the first month the season.
- The Ichabods enter the weekend ranked fifth nationally in hitting percentage with a mark of .297.
 
GAME NOTES
- Lubbock Christian opened the home portion of their 2018 schedule Thursday, falling 3-0 to Southwestern Oklahoma State.  It marks the first time in Rip Griffin Center history, LCU has dropped home openers in consecutive seasons. They are 7-3 in home openers over the past 10 seasons.
-LCU entered the week leading the Heartland Conference in aces with 41, with Maddie DeGuire posting a conference best 0.4 aces per set. The Lady Chaps did not record an ace Thursday, marking the first home match without an ace since Oct. 25, 2014 (vs. Arkansas Fort Smith).    
-Lauren Zoller is coming off a 17-kill performance against UAFS, which matched a season high and was two kills shy of a career high (19 vs. St. Edwards on Oct. 6, 2016).
-Jaiden Kennedy and Morgan Schwarz entered the week co-leading LCU in blocks, as they each have 23 and averaging 0.79 per set. Schwarz leads LCU with four solo blocks.
