Lubbock Christian University looks to rebound from Friday's roadtrip-opening 3-1 loss to UT Tyler Saturday with a non-divisional Lone Star Conference battle at No. 21 Texas A&M – Commerce. The 2 pm first serve will mark LCU's first match of the season against a nationally ranked opponent and their first match in Commerce, Texas. LCU is 8-7 on the season and has alternated wins and losses in their last five matches.

TEXAS A&M - COMMERCE | Sat., Oct. 5 | 2 p.m.
- Despite the all-time history between LCU and A&M – Commerce dating back to 1979, the Lady Chaps and Lions have only met four times all-time. TAMUC has won all four prior battles. The contest Saturday marks LCU's first ever trip to Commerce. The previous meeting was Sept. 2, 2016, which resulted in a 3-1 Lions win in Denton, Texas.
- TAMUC was preseason picked second in the Lone Star Conference. They went 30-6 last season, with a 17-3 mark in conference play. The Lions won the LSC Championships, but fell in the Regional Final (to Tarleton State) of the NCAA Division II South Central Region Tournament (ended a 13-match win streak).
- The Lions are 10-4 this season (4-1 in conference matches and 2-1 in non-divisional conference contests), with a 3-1 record in home matches. They fell at home 3-1 Friday to Angelo State.
- Shelley Chapron entered the week leading the LSC and ranking 19th nationally in blocks per set (1.2), but enters Saturday ranking third in the LSC at 1.16 blocks per set. She co-leads the LSC and is tied 18th nationally in total blocks (64). The Lions rank 16th nationally in total blocks with 124.0.
- A&M – Commerce is nationally ranked No.21 by the AVCA and will mark LCU's first match this season against a nationally ranked program. The Lions, who are 1-1 this season against nationally ranked programs (defeated No.1 Tampa 3-2 on Sept.13), stand as LCU's first nationally ranked foe they will face since facing No.10 Rockhurst on Aug. 24, 2018.

LADY CHAP NOTES
- The Lady Chaps head into the contest with an 8-7 record, looking to improve on a 1-4 road record. LCU has dropped their last three road matches. The Lady Chaps fell Friday 3-1 at UT Tyler in their first ever meeting with the Patriots. LCU won the opening set, but then fell in the next three sets.
-The Lady Chaps rank second in the LSC in attacks per set (38.2), ranking 35th nationally. Their total attacks mark of 2,329 attack attempts leads the conference (21st nationally). Hannah Thomas has received much of the effort, totaling 592 attacks (leads the conference) and averaging 9.9 attacks per set (ranks third in the conference). She ranks tied for ninth in the LSC in kills (160).
- Lubbock Christian has served up 80 aces in their 15 matches this season (fourth in the LSC). Maddie DeGuire leads the team in aces with 21, which ranks third in the conference and 64th nationally. She ranks 11th in the conference with a pace of 0.34 per set. Bradi Marshall ranks fourth in the conference with 20 aces and Hannah Thomas is tied for sixth with 17. Thomas posted five aces Tuesday in LCU's win over TAMUK.
- Marshall ranks second in the LSC in assists per set with a rate of 9.6, ranking 53rd nationally. She leads the LSC in total assists with 585 (10th nationally). She is coming off her 26th career double-double Friday at UTT.
- LCU's right-side hitter Avery Moore has been solid for the Lady Chaps since conference play began and has 46 kills over the three prior conference matches. She leads LCU with 82 kills in conference contests, with a pace of 3.3 per set. The right-side hitter has a .297 attack percentage in those contests. Moore ranks second in the LSC in conference attacks with 209 and she ranks third in kills in LSC play (82).
- Maddie DeGuire ranks second in the conference in total digs (288) and is fourth in digs per set (4.7). Her mark of 128 digs in conference play is third in the LSC (fourth with a pace of 5.1 per set in conference).
-Morgan Schwarz has shown a mix of offense and defense in conference play, averaging 1.84 kills per set on a .324 attack percentage and 0.7 blocks per set (18.0 blocks in conference play). She had 10 kills (tied a career high) Friday in Tyler and is sixth in the LSC with 51.0 blocks overall this season.
- LCU is seeking to buck a trend, as opponents have posted at least 10 team blocks against LCU in four consecutive matches. The last time LCU has witnessed the trend was at the close of the 2013 season, as LCU's opponents posted at least 10 team blocks against the Lady Chaps in the final five games of the season.
