Lady Chaps Playing Their First Matches of the Season Against Teams That Were Heartland Conference Members Last Season

Lubbock Christian University hits the road for a final regular season road trip, with stops in San Antonio, Texas (Friday to face St. Mary's) and Austin, Texas (Saturday to face St. Edward's) for a pair of non-divisional Lone Star Conference contests. LCU has concluded division play (5-5) and have clinched a berth to the 12-team field of the Lone Star Conference Championships. They currently sit in fourth place within their division and would need Texas – Permian Basin to lose their final two division contests to finish in third place of their division. The Lady Chaps have four regular season games remaining and all are Lone Star Conference matches. LCU enters the week on a four-match win streak, which is one shy of their season high of five. Opponents SEU and StMU mark LCU's first opponents this season who were Heartland Conference members last season.
 
ST. MARY'S | Nov. 8 | 8 p.m.
- St. Mary's holds a 13-10 advantage in the all-time series dating back to 1980. The Lady Chaps had a six-match win-streak against the Rattlers, until falling all three meetings during the 2017 season. LCU bounced back and swept the two-match season series last season. Of the 23 all-time meetings, 11 have been neutral site contests (StMU is 9-2 in those matches). Saturday's match, although played at Incarnate Word's McDermott Center, is considered a home game for the Rattlers and LCU is 3-2 in road games in the all-time series.  The previous meeting in the series was Oct. 27, 2018 (LCU won 3-1) and the prior meeting in San Antonio, Texas was on Sept. 27, 2018 (LCU won 3-0).
- StMU was preseason picked to finish ninth in the Lone Star Conference. They went 14-15 overall last season, finishing tied for second place (received the No.2-seed at the Heartland Conference Tournament) in the Heartland Conference with an 8-4 conference mark. They are 9-14 this season and sit fifth in their division with a 2-6 mark. They are 3-11 in conference play this season and 1-5 in non-divisional conference matches. StMU is 3-4 at home this season and aim to end a four-match overall losing streak.
- The Rattlers strongest statistic is serving aces, ranking sixth in the conference with 123 on the season. They have 29 aces over their past five matches for a pace of 5.8 per match. They have season-high ace totals of 15 (Sept. 13 vs. Southwest Baptist) and 12 (Oct. 19 vs. DBU) this season.
- Bree Perry ranks 89th nationally and third in the conference with a pace of 9.08 assists per set. She was injured Oct. 15 at Texas A&M – Commerce and is expected to despite the remainder of the season, despite making a serving appearance on Senior Day (Oct. 29 against St. Edward's).
- KK Payne ranks 10th in the conference with 8.8 attacks per set. She is averaging 9.1 attacks per set over the prior five matches.
 
ST. EDWARD'S | Nov. 9 | 1 p.m.
- The Lady Chaps and Hilltoppers met four times last season, with each team winning twice. SEU had the most important win, defeating LCU in the semifinal round of the Heartland Conference Tournament in Lubbock. LCU has a 14-7 all-time advantage in the series, which dates back to the 1989 season. The Lady Chaps had won six straight meetings before SEU went on their current two-match win streak in the series. SEU won the prior meeting in Austin 3-0 on Oct. 18, 2018. RECORD IN AUSTIN
- SEU was preseason picked to finish 10th in the Lone Star Conference. They went 18-12 overall last season, finishing in fourth place in the Heartland Conference with a 7-5 conference mark. They are 15-7 this season and sit first in their division with a 7-1 mark. They are 10-4 in conference play this season and 3-3 in non-divisional conference matches. SEU is 6-1 at home this season, where they have won six straight matches.
- The Hilltoppers open the week at No.17 Angelo State Friday. SEU is 1-2 against nationally ranked programs this season.
- SEU ranks third in the conference and 27th nationally in assists per set with a mark of 12.7 per set. They are averaging 13.5 per set over the past four matches.  
- Alexa McAndrew leads SEU and ranks eighth in the LSC in kills per set. Last Friday, she posted a double-double consisting of 17 kills and 10 digs.
 
LADY CHAP NOTES
- The Lady Chaps head into the contest with an 13-10 record, looking for a second straight road win to improve a 2-6 road record on the season. They are 7-7 in conference matches and finished with a 5-5 record in divisional play. They have four conference (all non-divisional) matches remaining in the regular season.
-LCU leads the LSC in attacks per set (38.3), ranking 33rd nationally. Their total attacks mark of 3,561 attack attempts ranks third in the conference (42nd nationally). Hannah Thomas has received much of the effort, totaling 847 attacks (third in the conference) and averaging 9.6 attacks per set (ranks fifth in the conference). She ranks tied for 18th in the LSC in kills (234).
- Lubbock Christian has served up 132 aces in their 23 matches this season (fourth in the LSC). Maddie DeGuire leads the team in aces with 34, which leads the conference and is 84th nationally. She leads the conference with a pace of 0.4 per set. Bradi Marshall (27th and in a tie for ninth) and Hannah Thomas (26 and in 13th) have also been an impact from the service line.
- Marshall ranks second in the LSC in assists per set with a rate of 9.7, ranking 61st nationally. She leads the LSC in total assists with 901 (36th nationally). Marshall is coming off her 34th career double-double against Midwestern State (17th of the season), in a match she posted a season-high 51 assists, marking the first time in her career she has posted at least 50 assists in consecutive matches. She also has double-doubles in nine consecutive matches and is 24 assists away from becoming the 11th player in LCU program history to reach 2,000 career assists.
- LCU's right-side hitter Avery Moore has been solid for the Lady Chaps since conference play began, ranking sixth in the LSC with 169 kills in conference contests, with a pace of 2.96 per set (13th in conference). The right-side hitter has a .232 attack percentage in those contests. Moore is third in the LSC in conference attacks with 469, which is second on the squad behind teammate Hannah Thomas (492).
- Maddie DeGuire ranks fourth in the conference in total digs (424) and is fourth in digs per set (4.6). Her mark of 263 digs in conference play is first in the LSC (fourth with a pace of 4.6 per set in conference).
- Morgan Schwarz has shown a mix of offense and defense in conference play, averaging 1.96 kills per set on a .301 attack percentage and 0.7 blocks per set (39.0 blocks in conference play). Her .301 attack percentage in conference play ranks 12th in the LSC and she ranks 11th in the LSC with 72 blocks overall this season.
- LCU opponents have been called for 85 ball handling errors this season (34 have been called against LCU).
-On Oct. 17, the LCU Athletic Department announced Mandy Polk has been promoted from interim head coach to head coach, officially marking her as the sixth head coach in program history. LCU has a 4-1 record since the announcement.
