LCU 2-0 in Heartland Play

LUBBOCK CHRISTIAN (18-8)
vs. UAFS (13-9)
March 23 – 11:30 a.m.
Crowder Field (Fort Smith, Arkansas)

LEADING OFF
Lubbock Christian University will wrap up a three-game series with Arkansas-Fort Smith on Saturday with a single game slated to start at 11:30 a.m. The game was originally scheduled for noon, but moved up 30 minutes to avoid rain in the Fort Smith area. The Chaps have already secured a series win against the Lions and are 2-0 in Heartland Conference play after sweeping Friday's doubleheader with 4-1 and 8-4 wins.

STARTING PITCHING MATCHUP
LCU – Chandler Casey will take the mound to start for the Chaps, making his team-leading 10th appearance, but just his third start. Casey has an earned run average of 3.30 in 30 innings pitched. He has given up 34 hits but walked only eight batters, striking out 30 and holding opponents to a .288 batting average for the year. The Lubbock native gets more outs on the ground (36) than he does in the air (19), and he is tied for the team lead with a pair of double-play balls. He was the losing pitcher in his last outing, giving up four runs (three earned) over seven innings pitched.

UAFS – The Lions will be throwing a right-hander as well in freshman Andrew McGlynn. The Rogers, Ark. native has made five appearances (four starts) in his inaugural collegiate campaign, never pitching more than 5.0 innings at a time. He has an earned run average of 7.41, giving up 15 hits and 11 walks to just 13 strikeouts in his 17.0 innings of work. He got a no-decision his last time out, giving up five runs on six hits in four innings against Rogers State.
