LCU Taking on D-II Newcomer UT Tyler

Lady Chaps Looking to Extend Win Streak

LUBBOCK CHRISTIAN (4-2, 1-0) at
UT TYLER (3-2, 1-0)
Saturday, September 28 – 1 p.m.
Tyler, Texas – Citizens 1st Bank-Perkins Soccer Complex

LADY CHAP HEADERS
  • Although a number of teams in the Lone Star Conference are new this season, UT Tyler is the only one new to Division II. The Patriots previously competed at the NCAA Division II level and are beginning the two-year transition period this season
  • The Lady Chaps have won four straight games and will be going for their fifth in a row on Saturday. The last time they had a win streak of four games was 10/6-10/18 last season, but the last time they were winners in at least five straight was 2015
  • Lubbock Christian currently leads the league in scoring average with 3.67 goals per game. They also rank in the top half of the LSC in goals against, giving up an average of just one per game
  • Freshman forward Celia Duarte has scored in three straight games and leads the Lone Star Conference with five scores so far this season

WHAT TO WATCH FOR
  • LCU goalkeeper Hannah Wise needs just three more saves to become the all-time Lady Chap leader in that category
  • Four of the top five players in points in the LSC right now are Lady Chaps, including Duarte in first, Haley Knesek in third, Allison Scott in fourth and Hollie Windham in fifth
  • The Lady Chaps have been shown just one yellow card during the season and are one of only five LSC teams not to have been shown multiple so far this season
  • LCU has done well to create quality scoring chances, putting 43 percent of their shots on target, and they rank third in the league in shots on goal per game with 8.17
  • Lubbock Christian has out-scored its opponents 22-6 so far this season, including 18-1 in its last three contests. Their scoring margin average of 2.67 leads the conference

SCOUTING UT TYLER
  • The Patriots earned a win in their first Lone Star Conference matchup, taking down winless UT Permian Basin 3-0 on Thursday
  • UT Tyler has a 3-2 record overall this season with losses to Ouachita Baptist and Mississippi College
  • Eight different Patriot players have scored goals so far this season, but only one – Mariah Harmon – has scored multiple times
  • The Patriots are averaging 16 shots and nine shots on goal per game, which ranks second best in the LSC
  • Goalkeeper Camri Cecil has allowed an average of 1.19 goals per game against with a save percentage of .806 through five games

THE SERIES WITH THE PATRIOTS
  • Lubbock Christian and UT Tyler will be meeting for the first time in the history of the two programs on Saturday.
