SAN ANTONIO, Texas (February 25, 2020) – The Lubbock Christian men's golf team used a round three team score of 308 on Tuesday to move up two spots and finish in ninth overall.
The Chaps shot a 921 as a team across all three rounds which was just 10 strokes behind the eighth place team and better than four other teams playing at the tournament. Overall, LCU shot even par on 154 holes while making birdies on 27 and adding in one eagle, which came from
Jeff Maciejewski.
LCU's best player in the third round was
Zach Burkholder, who moved up 11 spots into 49
th individually thanks to a two-over score of 74 on Tuesday. Burkholder improved his score in every round of the tournament and finished with an overall score of 236.
Maciejewski shot just two strokes worse than Burkholder on Tuesday, carding a 76. It was the second-best round of the tournament for him individually, but he still moved up five spots from 40
th to 35
th.
The Chaps' top finisher at the tournament was freshman
Braxton Floyd, who did not have the best third round, but still finished in a tie for ninth. Floyd's Tuesday score of 81 gave him a 224 overall score for the tournament.
Maxwell Mitchell moved up four spots and finished right behind Maciejewski in a tie for 36
th. He stayed remarkably consistent throughout the tournament, shooting a 78, 76 and a round three score of 77 to finish at 231 overall.
Chase Mykleby also moved up two spots on Tuesday, finishing in 67
th with an overall score of 252.
Lubbock Christian will be home for its next tournament, playing host to the LCU Chap Classic on March 9-10 at the Rawls Course in Lubbock.
