LUBBOCK, Texas (January 26, 2021) - The Lubbock Christian University Lady Chaparrals volleyball team opens Lone Star Conference play hosting West Texas A&M for a "Rivalry on the Range" matchup inside Rip Griffin Center. The match is the first of four scheduled matches between the two programs, and the second contest is scheduled for Wednesday in Canyon, Texas.

West Texas A&M | Tuesday, Jan. 26 | 7 p.m.
- Tuesday's clash marks the 44th all-time matchup between the Lady Chaps and Lady Buffs (third as conference foes). WTAMU has had the upper hand in the series with a 30-12-1 all-time series lead. The Lady Buffs swept LCU last season, winning 3-2 in Canyon (Sept. 21, 2019) and 3-0 in Lubbock (Oct. 11, 2019). LCU is 5-12 at home against WTAMU.
- WTAMU went 22-7 last season, going 14-4 in LSC play. Their 2019 season ended at the NCAA Division II South Central Regional, where they fell to Angelo State. They are preseason picked fourth this season in the LSC. They went 10-1 last season in road play and take a six-game road win streak into this season.
- This season marks first time in 26 years in which WT will not open the campaign inside of the WTAMU Fieldhouse "The Box." WT is 34-6 in season openers dating back to the 1980 season, including 2-0 when they open the season in a true road match, with those wins coming at North Texas (1985) and San Francisco State (1989).
- WT features two-time reigning Lone Star Conference Libero of the Year Chandler Vogel, who enters her senior season with 1,827 career digs.  She sits fifth on WT's career list in digs and is on pace to challenge Lauren Beville's (2009-12) all-time career mark of 2,423. Vogel has seen time in 356 sets for the Lady Buffs over the last three seasons and has started 98 matches in the back row over that span.
- Eight members of the 15 rostered WT members are either freshman or sophomores. Toss in LCU's nine players (of 13) that are freshman or sophomores and it places 60% of the two teams combined rosters are filled with youth.

LADY CHAP NOTES
- LCU improved to 28-14 all-time in season openers (have now won 10 of their 13 prior season openers), as they defeated Wayland Baptist 3-1. The Lady Chaps also improved to 9-3 in home openers since 2008. The win over WBU has LCU entering the contest Tuesday 1-0 on the season.
- The Lady Chaps go from playing their NAIA rival (Wayland Baptist) to playing West Texas A&M in a "Rivalry on the Range" contest. The Rivalry on the Range is a season-long point system involving games and competitions in which WT and LCU both compete in. WT won the series last season (inaugural season of the series) and host the trophy for bragging right purposes.
- LCU has two players entering the match with double-figures in kills, as Avery Moore (16) and Jenna Lyons (10) each had a double-figure performance against Wayland Baptist. Moore is LCU's only returning All-Conference selection, as she claimed Second Team All-Conference honors last season.
- Jenna Lyons, Chloe Menard, Kalli Dalland, Zoe Parker, and Sage Post each made their LCU debut Tuesday against Wayland Baptist. Dalland had seven kills on 13 attempts and compiled a .462 attack percentage in her LCU debut. She also produced six blocks (three solo).
- LCU is preseason picked ninth in the Lone Star Conference preseason poll. This season marks LCU's second season as members of the Lone Star Conference. LCU was preseason picked sixth last season and finished tied for third in their division last season (5-5 in division play), taking the No.8 seed into the conference tournament. Prior to last season, LCU had been in the Heartland Conference since 2013.
- Libero Maddie DeGuire had 26 digs in the opener. The total would have tied her second-best total from last season. She enters play Tuesday with 861 career digs and 139 away from 1,000.
- Jalee Sims, appearing in her 39th career match (last Tuesday against WBU), set a career-high mark in assists (34). She had 14 digs to complete her first double-double of her career.
- LCU had 11.0 team blocks against WBU. The Lady Chaps had six matches last season in which they had at least 10.0 blocks in the game.
