NEW BRAUNFELS, Texas (March 13, 2021) – The Lubbock Christian University women's golf team sits in 3
rd place after shooting a 39-over, 327, in Saturday's opening round of the BU Spring Break Classic at Landa Park Golf. The Lady Chaps are 10 strokes off the lead, which is currently held by the host team, Bellevue University.

Prestley Hammond and
Peyton Oliver led the way for the Lady Chaps through the first 18 holes of competition, both shooting an 8-over 80. Hammond and Oliver are in a tie for 4
th place individually and are 7 shots off the lead heading into day two.

Aspen Escamilla is in a tie for 11
th after turning in a 10-over 82 first round score.Â

Ashton Mangum carded a 13-over 85 to place her in a tie for 16
th place after day one.
Jillian Jones was right behind her and turned in a 16-over 88 to place her in a tie for 20
th.

Samantha Blount and
Kyra Jones rounded out the Lady Chaps competing in the tournament, as they played as individuals. Blount shot a 22-over 94 and sits in 26
th. K. Jones sits in 28
th after shooting a 27-over 99.

The Lady Chaps will tee off the final round of the BU Spring Break on Sunday morning.
