CHAPARRAL HEADERS
- Lubbock Christian currently sits in sixth place in the league standings with two games to play. The top four teams by points at the end of the season will advance to the LSC Tournament
- LCU is averaging 1.43 goals per game so far this season, which is the fifth-most in the Lone Star Conference. Seven different LCU players have scored at least one goal
- The Chaps have lost back-to-back games for the first time this season. The last time they lost two straight games was Nov. 9 and 12 of 2019.
- Opponents are averaging 2.17 goals per game against DBU so far this season, which is the worst mark in the LSC. The number is inflated slightly due to the six goals allowed in a loss against MSU
- Fernando Flores scored the lone goal for the Chaps in their most recent game against West Texas A&M. He is averaging 1.14 points per game, which is the third most in the conference
STOPPING THE STREAK
For the first time this season, Lubbock Christian University has lost back-to-back games, falling 3-2 against No. 16 St. Mary's last Tuesday and 2-1 against West Texas A&M. The last time they lost two straight was the last two games of the 2019 season, and they only lost back-to-back games one other time that season. They get a chance now to break the skid at Dallas Baptist, who comes in tied for last in the league with just three points. It will be the final road game of the adjusted spring 2021 schedule for LCU, with just one home game against UT Permian Basin on April 6 to close out the year.
THE FLORES FILE
The only Chaparral to score in the most recent game against West Texas A&M was junior forward
Fernando Flores, who found the back of the net for the third time of the year and the first time since Feb. 23. His eight points on the season lead the team and is tied for the third-most in the LSC, and his three assists are also tied for fourth in the league. The Mexico native is also up to 39 career points now, which has him in third in the LCU record book. He needs three more points to surpass Nick Gorrie (2011-13) and take over second place on the leaderboard.
LOOKING AT THE LONE STAR
Heading into the final two games of the season, Lubbock Christian currently is in sixth place in the Lone Star Conference, needing to move up two spots to make the LSC Tournament. They currently have nine points on the year and have six more available if they win at DBU and against UT Permian Basin. There are three teams right above them in a tie for third with 10 points each – UT Permian Basin, Midwestern State and Texas A&M International. They already hold a tiebreaker over TAMIU, having beaten the Dustdevils 1-0 on March 16. West Texas A&M currently leads the league with 15 points, and St. Mary's has the second place spot with 12 points.
ON THE ATTACK
Although they have been led by Flores and his eight points, LCU's offense has had a number of different contributors this season, with six other Chaps having scored at least once. Defender
Hector Rodriguez-Cabo has the second-most goals on the team with two, having scored against UT Tyler and St. Mary's. Rodriguez-Cabo also leads the team in shots with 15 and shots on goal with eight. No other Chap has scored multiple times, by

Luca Hollenstein have all found the back of the net at least once. Two Chap players –

SHOT-STOPPERS
LCU opponents this season have averaged 1.29 goals per game, which is tied for the fifth-best mark in the conference. They have allowed multiple goals in a game three times this season, including each of the last two contests. Chap opponents are averaging 12.1 shots per game and have 36 total shots on goal this season. they have also earned 34 corner kicks. LCU's defense is led by Muanze-Bengono, who has played every minute this year, and Hollenstein, who has missed just one minute of game action. In goal,
Braxton Thorne has been the main starter, posting a save percentage of .767 in 540 minutes.
Ben Pelz started against WT though, making four saves and allowing two goals.
HIT THE ROAD, CHAPS
Lubbock Christian will be playing its fifth and final road game of the spring 2021 schedule. They are 2-2 on the road so far this season with wins over UT Tyler and Texas A&M International as well as losses at Midwestern State and West Texas A&M. Both road wins have come by a score of 1-0.
SCOUTING THE PATRIOTS
- DBU's only win this year came on their home field on March 16, when the beat Oklahoma Christian 3-1
- The March 16 game against OC was the last time DBU scored a goal, as they have been shut out in three straight games, including a 0-0 tie against OC in their most recent competition. They average just .83 goals per game this year
- Only one Patriot player has more than two points this year in Jide Adesanya, who has three (one goal, one assist). Four other DBU players have scored goals
- Goalkeeping has been split between Kyle Renton and Alexander Knepper, with Renton taking the majority of the minutes. He has an .810 save percentage in 380 minutes
- Dallas Baptist's 54 shots and 23 shots on goal are the lowest totals in the Lone Star Conference
THE SERIES WITH THE PATRIOTS
Lubbock Christian and Dallas Baptist have met seven times overall, with LCU winning six times and DBU winning once. The Chaps have won the last three meetings, although it took them double overtime to win 3-2 in 2019. DBU's only win came by a score of 3-2 in 2016 in Dallas.
