SAN ANGELO, Texas (March 3, 2021) – Lubbock Christian University closes out their regular season series with No.3 Angelo State Wednesday, aiming to end a six-match losing skid. The Lone Star Conference West Division match opens serve at 7 p.m. inside Junell Center.

- LCU and Angelo State are meeting for the 30th time all-time and meeting for a sixth time as conference foes (LCU is 1-4 against the Belles as LSC opponents). Angelo State defeated LCU 3-0 on Feb. 9, Feb. 10 and again Tuesday, which increased ASU's all-time series record to 20-9 against LCU. Despite the ASU series advantage (they had a nine-match win streak from 1980 to 1986), LCU has won seven of the past 12 meetings. Fourteen (14) meetings have been played in San Angelo, where LCU is 5-9 (LCU has won five of the last seven in San Angelo).
- ASU, which went 29-3 last season, going 17-1 in LSC play, had their season end at the 2019 NCAA Division II South Central Region Championship Game. This season, the Belles are 12-0 on the season (9-0 in conference and division play). They are preseason picked to win the LSC this season.
- ASU's Kailyn Gilbreath was named the Preseason Offensive Player of the Year and Lindsey Ledyard received Preseason Setter of the Year honors. Gilbreath averages 3.43 kills per set (fourth in the conference) and Ledyard is fourth in the conference with 8.29 assists per set. Gilbreath ranks fifth nationally in total attacks (427).  
- Angelo State is averaging 39.7 attacks per set, which ranks sixth in the nation and leads the LSC.
- The Belles are second in the conference and rank sixth nationally in digs per set with a mark of 20.4 per set.
 
LADY CHAP NOTES
- LCU enters the game with a 3-7 record overall and a 2-7 Lone Star Conference record. The Lady Chaps are seeking to end a six-match losing streak, which is their longest since a six-match losing streak in 2017.
- The Lady Chaps rank in the top-25 in several national team categories. They enter the week ranking seventh in team total attacks (currently with 1,360), 10^th team total digs (589) and 19^th in kills (375).
- Jalee Sims, who has eight double-doubles out of LCU's 10 matches, ranks fourth in the LSC in total assists (273), which is 10^th nationally. Entering Wednesday, she averages 8.03 per set, which is sixth in the conference (43^rd nationally). On Feb. 2, she posted 35 assists and 30 digs against UT Permian Basin. Going through game-by-game records on file since 2004 (detailed game-by-game statistics are incomplete in archives prior), Sims is the only Lady Chaps member to have at least 30 digs and 30 assists in the same match.  Only two players in Division II completed the task last season and she is the only player with the mark this season in Division II.
- Sims also ranks ninth in the LSC in digs with 133, behind conference leader and teammate Maddie DeGuire, who has 163 digs (sixth in the LSC) and entered the week ranking seventh nationally in the category. DeGuire averages 4.79 digs per set to rank fourth in the conference (ranks 45^th nationally).
- LCU is preseason picked ninth in the Lone Star Conference preseason poll. This season marks LCU's second season as members of the Lone Star Conference. LCU was preseason picked sixth last season and finished tied for third in their division last season (5-5 in division play), taking the No.8 seed into the conference tournament. Prior to last season, LCU had been in the Heartland Conference since 2013.
- Jenna Lyons (75) is 13^th in the conference in dogs and Avery Moore (73), who missed the series against WT, is 15^th in kills in the LSC. Moore ranks 16th in the conference in kills per set with an average of 2.61 per set.
- LCU has a 4-6 record in the opening set of matches on the season, but they are 0-10 in the second set.
- Jenna Lyons leads LCU against ASU this season with 32 kills, at a mark of 2.57per set.
