LUBBOCK, Texas (March 9, 2021) – Lubbock Christian University opens their final Lone Star Conference series of the regular season Tuesday, hosting UT Permian Basin with a 7 p.m. opening serve inside Rip Griffin Center.

- The Lady Chaps and Falcons first squared off in 1995 and have met 46 times since, with LCU owning a 39-7 series advantage over the Falcons. UTPB had four victories come during the 2005 and 2006 seasons and swept the season series last season (LCU had won 15 consecutive matches prior to last season). LCU is 17-3 all-time in Lubbock in the series. This meeting will mark their fifth LSC meeting (UTPB is 3-1 in the series with both teams being LSC members). The two programs were former Heartland Conference foes and LCU was 6-0 all-time in Heartland action against the Falcons.
- UTPB went 20-9 last season, going 11-7 in LSC play. Their 2019 season ended at the Lone Star Conference Tournament, where they fell to Angelo State. They are preseason picked seventh this season in the LSC.
- UT Permian Basin is 2-9 this season and looking to end a four-match losing streak after losses to Angelo State and West Texas A&M. The Falcons are 0-4 in road play this season.
- UTPB leads the LSC and ranks fourth nationally in attacks per set, with a mark of 42.5 per set. Aquincia Strambler ranks fourth in the LSC and 15^th nationally with 131 kills (3.36 per set, ranking sixth in the LSC).
- Taurie Magee is 16^th nationally in total blocks, posting 37 on the season.
 
LADY CHAP NOTES
- LCU enters the game with a 3-8 record overall and a 2-8 Lone Star Conference record. The Lady Chaps are seeking to end a seven-match losing streak, which has matched a program record dating back to the 2006 season.
- The Lady Chaps enter the week ranking 21^st in team total attacks in NCAA Division II (currently with 1,462).
- Jalee Sims, who has eight double-doubles out of LCU's 11 matches, ranks fourth in the LSC in total assists (291), which is 21^st nationally. Entering Tuesday, she averages 7.86 per set, which is sixth in the conference. On Feb. 2, she posted 35 assists and 30 digs against UT Permian Basin. Going through game-by-game records on file since 2004 (detailed game-by-game statistics are incomplete in archives prior), Sims is the only Lady Chaps member to have at least 30 digs and 30 assists in the same match.  Only two players in Division II completed the task last season and she is the only player with the mark this season in Division II.
- Sims also ranks 11th in the LSC in digs with 140, behind team leader and teammate Maddie DeGuire, who has 174 digs (seventh in the LSC) and entered the week ranking 19th nationally in the category. DeGuire averages 4.7 digs per set to rank sixth in the conference.
- LCU is preseason picked ninth in the Lone Star Conference preseason poll. This season marks LCU's second season as members of the Lone Star Conference. LCU was preseason picked sixth last season and finished tied for third in their division last season (5-5 in division play), taking the No.8 seed into the conference tournament. Prior to last season, LCU had been in the Heartland Conference since 2013.
- If LCU wins one of their matches (of two) against UTPB this week, they will clinch their second consecutive LSC Championships (tournament) berth.
- Jenna Lyons (86) is 21^st in the conference in kills and Avery Moore (75), who missed the series against WT, is 33^rd in kills in the LSC. Lyons is 11^th in the conference in kills per set with an average of 2.77 per set.
- LCU has a 4-7 record in the opening set of matches on the season, but they are 0-11 in the second set.
