HOBBS, N.M. - The Chaps cross country team wrapped up the regular season, finishing fourth at the NMJC Invitational II on Friday, Oct. 14. 

The Chaps picked up 134 points and a total time of 2:15.58 in the 8K race, finishing above five other schools in the race. LCU had an average time of 27:11.

Pacing the way for LCU once again was Colby Sandoval, who finished 15th with a time of 25:39.5. Sandoval has been the lead runner for the Chaps in every race this season.

Carlos Barraza reset his personal best in the 8K, finishing 18th with a time 26:11.3. That mark beats out his old personal best of 26:22.0 set at the ACU Naimadu Classic by almost 11 seconds.

Hagen Sage also set a new personal best in the 8K, finishing 31st with a time of 27:39.6. Sage's new personal best beats his old mark of 27:45.3 set at the 2021 DII Preview event by just over five seconds.

Tristan Young finished 36th with a time of 27:54.0, while Aiden Zingone finished 40th with a time of 28:34.3.

Joshua Huang ran his first career collegiate 8K, finishing 54th with a time of 29:58.9. Nathan Goble rounds out the runners for the Chaps, finishing 57th with a time of 30:11.2.

Host New Mexico Junior College won the team championship with a time of 2:01:56 and 29 points. Adams Biwott of El Paso CC won the individual championship with a time of 23:49.9.

The Chaps will prepare for the postseason, heading to Wichita Falls, Texas for the Lone Star Conference Championship race on Saturday, Nov. 5.
