EL PASO, Texas - Due to weather on day one, the Chaps fall season ended 18 holes earlier than expected, as LCU finished 10th overall after 36 holes at the RJGA Shootout on Tuesday, Oct. 25.
LCU improved by seven strokes on day two, finishing with a 17-over, 305 in the second round. Unfortunately for the Chaps, nine other teams also took advantage of the improved weather, shooting under 300 in the final round.
The Chaps did well on par threes, shooting an average 3.35, 14-over, tied for the fifth best score in the field on the shortest holes at the Butterfield Trail Golf Club. LCU's 98 pars were the second most of any team in the tournament.
LCU finished above no. 41 Texas A&M International and above region foes Regis, Fort Lewis College and Arkansas Fort Smith.
Individually,
Braxton Floyd paced the Chaps, finishing tied for 19th after shooting a three-over 75 in the final round. Floyd finished the tournament with a seven-over 151, two-round score. He, along with
Tiaan de Jager led the Chaps this week with five birdies each. Floyd shot an average score of a four-over, 4.20 on par fours, tied for 10th best in the field.
Hayden Bowman and Floyd both excelled on par fives, shooting an average, one-under 4.88 score on the longest holes.
Floyd finished higher than three nationally ranked golfers and tied with one golfer inside the Golfstat top-50.

Tiaan de Jager finished just behind him tied for 22nd with a nine-over, 153 two-round score. He was one of three Chaps, along with
Garrett Auger and Bowman, to shoot a five-over 77 in the second round. His 22nd place finish is a new season-high placement.
For the second day in a row, Auger shot a five-over 77, finishing tied for 29th with a 10-over 154. His 24 pars led LCU and are tied for the third most in the field.
Bowman improved by six strokes in the second round with his five-over 77, finishing tied for 52nd with a 16-over 160. He shot a perfect 3.00, even par on par threes at the Butterfield Trail Golf Club.
Clement Catteau improved by 14 whole strokes in the second round, shooting a four-over 76 in the final round, a new season-low. Catteau finished tied for 72nd with a 23-over 167 two round score.
Colorado Mesa won the team championship with a 20-over, 596 two-round score. Alec Williams of Westminster College and Travis Robbie of New Mexico Junior College tied for the individual championship with a three-under, 141 two-round score.
