Bowman shoots one-under first round, sits tied for 37th in Amarillo

It is the second time this season Bowman has shot one-under par

AMARILLO, Texas - For the second time in his short collegiate career, Hayden Bowman records a one-under first round and currently sits tied for 37th after day one of the Ryan Palmer Foundation Invitational on Monday, Oct. 3.

The freshman shot a one-under 69 in the opening round, his first under-70 score of his career. Bowman shot three-under on the back nine, thanks to birdies on the 11th, 12th and 15th hole. In the second round, the Lubbock native shot a five-over 75 to finish the first day with a four-over 144.

Bowman's seven birdies led the Chaps in the first two rounds. He shot a perfect even-par 4.00 on par fours.

As a team, LCU sits in 17th, behind Regis and Fort Lewis College by just two strokes. The Chaps struggled on par threes, shooting an 18-over score and averaging 3.45. Lubbock Christian did fare well on par fives, shooting one-under for an average score of 4.95. 

Braxton Floyd sits tied for 51st after shooting a two-over 146 two-round score. Floyd shot a four-over 74 in the first round before recovering with a two-over 72 in the second. Floyd, along with teammate Jake Bowen, paced the Chaps with 24 pars each.

Bowen currently sits by himself at 84th with a 13-over 153. He shot a six-over 76 in the opening round and a seven-over 77 in round two. Bowen shot even-par on par fives at the Amarillo Country Club. 

Jackson Comer and Tiaan de Jager sit tied for 87th after shooting 16-over 156s in the first two rounds. Comer shot a pair of eight-over 78s today, while de Jager recovered from a rough, 12-over 82 in the first round to a four-over 74 in the second round. 

No. 6 Oklahoma Christian sits in first-place by seven strokes over Midwestern State with a 10-under, 550 two-round score. The Eagles' Exequiel Rodriguez is in first individually by one stroke with a ten-under 134.

The Ryan Palmer Foundation Invitational closes out tomorrow, Oct. 4 with one more round, beginning at 8:30 AM. Fans can follow along with live results at the links provided at lcuchaps.com.
