LCU (11) and RSU (10) Each Taking Double-Figure Win Streaks Into Sunday's Meeting

LCU and RSU Series Snapshot
  • LCU leads the all-time series over RSU 33-10.
  • The Lady Chaps had won 18 straight until the streak ended on Mar. 13, 2018, and RSU has won seven of the previous 10 meetings (four by shutout) since then.

  • Franco has no hitters in two of her last five appearances and went 25.2 consecutive innings pitched without allowing an earned run. She co-leads LCU in career no-hitters with three.
  • Savannah Wysocki had a triple Saturday, placing her with four on the season and 19 in her LCU career, which actively leads NCAA Division II in career triples. Wysocki, with nine stolen bases this season, has 67 in her career, ranking 10th among active career NCAA Division II leaders (third all-time in program history). Her nine stolen bases this season ranks 17th nationally.
  • Tyla Lee leads LCU, hitting .525 with 21 hits and 13 RBI. Her 21 hits rank tied for third in the LSC.
  • Kasey Flores ranks second for LCU (behind Skylar Herrera) in home runs with three (tied for 10th in LSC). Flores, a transfer from UTEP, sits 22nd actively among NCAA Division II leaders in home runs with 26. She sits third on the squad with 11 RBI and seven have come with two-outs.
  • Skylar Herrera ranks tied for 35th nationally with six stolen bases on the season. She has 44 in her career, ranking 35th actively among NCAA Division II career leaders.
  • Savannah Wysocki co-leads the nation with four triples and Brooke Makemson is right behind with three triples.
  • Tyla Lee leads LCU in multi-hit games (7). Brooke Makemson, Kasey Flores and Skylar Herrera co-lead LCU with four multi-RBI games.
 
Season Expectations
  • The Lady Chaps are preseason picked to finish seventh in the Lone Star Conference.
  • LCU is in their eighth season playing a NCAA Division II schedule (2013 was their last season in NAIA) and this is their third season as members of the Lone Star Conference.
  • There are 16 softball programs in the LSC this season. The major difference from last season to this season is UT Tyler is postseason eligible.

Coach Talk
  • LCU head coach Daren Hays is in his 12th season at the helm of the Lady Chaps.
  • Hays is LCU's winningest softball head coach, entering the season with a softball record of 458-147.
  • Along with surpassing 450 coaching wins in softball, Hays had surpassed 350 wins as a collegiate baseball head coach. He spent eight seasons as the LCU baseball head coach and compiled a 356-163 record.
 
Neutralizing
  • LCU is 5-2 this season in neutral site contests.
  • The Lady Chaps are hitting .317 (four home runs) in neutral site tilts, and contributing a 2.33 ERA in the circle (opponents hitting .217).  
  • Tyla Lee (12-for-23) is leading LCU with a .522 average in neutral site games.
  • Lee and Kasey Flores co-lead LCU in neutral site games with seven RBI each.
  • Maxine Valdez has a 1.38 ERA with a 3-1 record and 25 strikeouts in 20.1 innings.

  • Lee has also reached base safely in the past 12 games, which is the longest streak this season by a Lady Chap. Angela Donaldson is actively second with a nine-game streak.

  • LCU's odd innings are paying off this season, as they have a 19-4 scoring advantage in the first inning, 20-9 advantage in the third inning and a 18-1 advantage in the fifth inning this season.
  • The Lady Chaps have scored in the first inning in six games this season and are 6-0 when doing so. LCU is 9-1 when scoring first.
