LCU Cheerleading Coach Selected To Oversee Cheerleaders at National All-Star Football Event

LUBBOCK, Texas (December 6, 2023) – As some of the top high school football recruits in the country showcase their skills, Lubbock Christian University will have some representation cheering them on, as LCU cheerleading head coach Whitney Sales will serve as the Cheer Coordinator for the U.S. Army Bowl.

"I am absolutely honored to have been chosen as Coach of the Year for the first U.S. Army Bowl Game Cheer Team," stated an elated Whitney Sales. "I look forward to meeting all these athletes from across the country and spending a week together in Frisco. Great things are happening for LCU Cheer. I am grateful for another amazing opportunity to tell more families about the best university in Texas."

Billed as the nation's "Biggest Week in Football," The U.S. Army Bowl week will spotlight 80 of the best high school football players in the nation, highlighted with the high school all-star football game (U.S. Army Bowl) scheduled for December 18 (7 p.m.) inside Ford Center at The Star (Frisco, Texas) and televised on Ballys. The events with the game include combines, banquets, additional games (flag football, 7v7, middle school) and college commitment signings.

Personnel surrounding the U.S. Army Bowl include band members and cheerleaders chosen to the event, and Sales will oversee the cheerleading selections, along with coordinating cheer routines.

Sales joined the LCU Athletic Department prior to the 2022-23 school term after serving two seasons as the head cheer coach at Wayland Baptist. A resident of Idalou, Texas, Sales previously served as spirit director and head cheer coach at Southcrest Christian School from 2015-2019, where she also served as a golf coach. She helped lead Southcrest to a pair of All-State titles in cheer. Sales has also choreographed five UIL State Titles, two UIL State Finalists, plus multiple category wins at the UIL Spirit State Championships.

The LCU cheer program currently has 22 members and competes annually in Florida at NCA Collegiate Nationals. They have a pair of CCA Collegiate Grand Championships.
