Floyd and de Jager move up leaderboard on final day of Rattler Invitational

SAN ANTONIO, Texas - Braxton Floyd and Tiaan de Jager moved up the leaderboards, while Hayden Bowman carded another 74 as the Chaps wrapped up play at the Rattler Invitational on Tuesday, Feb. 21. 

Lubbock Christian finished 10th overall after shooting their best score of the week, a 12-over 300 in the final round. The Chaps shot a total three round score of a 52-over, 916. As a team, the Chaparrals carded 152 pars, tied for the fifth-most in the field. LCU finished above Missouri Southern State and LSC foe Texas A&M International.

Hayden Bowman was the leading finisher for the Chaps, finishing tied for 11th with a three round, six-over 222 score. Bowman shot a two-over 74 in every single round of the tournament. His 11th place finish is the highest of his young career. The freshman was sensational on par fives, shooting three-under for a 4.75 average score. Bowman led the team with 35 pars and eight birdies. He also beat out three golfers ranked inside the Golfstat Top-100.

Jackson Comer and Floyd tied for 32nd, both shooting 13-over, 229s for the week. Comer shot a three-over 77 in the final round, improving by one stroke between rounds. Comer shot a one-over, average score of 3.08 on par threes this week, tied for the fourth best in the tournament. Floyd shot a two-over 74 today, a four stroke improvement between rounds. Floyd shot a three-over, 4.10 average score on par fours, tied for the sixth-best in the field. 

Improving by seven strokes between rounds, de Jager shot a three-over 75 in the final round, his best of the weekend. The South African finished tied for 48th with a three-round, 20-over, 236 score. Clement Catteau rounds out play for the Chaps with a 46-over, 262 three round score. 

No. 20 Cameron won the event championship by one stroke over DBU, shooting a 19-over, 883 this week. Key Coker of Dallas Baptist and Sangha Park of Texas Permian Basin tied for the individual championship. 

The Chaps will take the next month off before returning to competition on Mar. 20-21 at the King Alfred Spring Invite in Tyler, Texas. For more LCU men's golf news, head over to lcuchaps.com.
