LAREDO, Texas - Tiaan de Jager moved up two spots on the final day of the Jack Brown Memorial Invite to finish tied for eighth on Tuesday, Feb. 7.
After shooting three-over on the front-nine, the South African was lights out on the back-nine, birding the 10th hole and finishing the round with a two-over 74. He finished the tournament with a five-over 149, one of just eight golfers to shoot under 150 for the week. On par fours, de Jager did well, averaging a three-over, 4.15 score for the week. His 26 total pars were tied for the second-most in the field. His 149, two-round score is a new season best, beating out his 153 score at the RJGA Shootout by four strokes.

As a team, the Chaps finished fourth overall after shooting a 21-over 309 in the second round, finishing at 41-over with a 617 two-round score. Oddly enough, the Chaps finished their last tournament of the fall, the RJGA Shootout, with a 617 two-round score, but that event had the final round canceled due to weather. Lubbock Christian shot the third-best score of any team on par threes, shooting 12-over for an average score of 3.30. LCU finished ahead of region foe Fort Lewis and Lone Star Conference rival and host Texas A&M International.
Hayden Bowman finished tied for twelfth individually, improving by one stroke in the second round with a three-over 75. The freshman finished with a seven-over, 151 two-round score, a new career-best two-round score for the Lubbock native, smashing his old personal best two-round 160 at the RJGA Shootout by nine strokes. Bowman was unstoppable on par fives, shooting a three-under, 4.63 average score, the second-best in the tournament. His six birdies tied with teammate
Braxton Floyd for the sixth-most in the field.
Floyd fell 17 spots between rounds to finish tied for 25th, after shooting an 11-over 83 in the second round. He finished with a 13-over, 157 two-round score for the tournament. Floyd did card six birdies for the entire tournament.
Garrett Auger improved by five strokes between rounds, shooting a six-over 78 in the second round. Auger picked up a pair of birdies on the second and 17th holes. Auger finished tied for 30th with a 16-over, 161 two-round score.
Jackson Comer improved by six strokes in the second round, shooting a 10-over 82 this afternoon. Comer did pick up a birdie on the 12th hole. He finished 38th overall with a 26-over, 170 two-round score.
UT Tyler won the event championship by 11 strokes, shooting an eight-over 584 two-round score. Sebastian Tannum Donaldson of St. Mary's won the individual championship with a three-over, 141 two-round score.
The Chaps will take next week off before heading to San Antonio for the Rattler Invitational. Action begins on Monday, Feb. 20 from the Dominion Country Club.
