BULLARD, Texas - The LCU men's golf team sits in ninth place overall after day one of the King Alfred Spring Invite on Monday, Mar. 20.
The Chaps sit four strokes behind Texas A&M International, shooting a 58-over, 626. LCU shot a 314 in the opening round, before improving by two strokes with a 312 in the second. Lubbock Christian's 115 pars as a team were the fourth most of the field, led by
Garrett Auger with 25.
Auger leads the Chaparrals, sitting tied for 26th with an 11-over, 153 after the first two rounds. Auger shot a six-over 77 in the first round, before tying his career low with a five-over 76 in the second round.
Braxton Floyd sits right behind Auger, tied for 28th with a 12-over, 154 two-round score. Floyd shot a pair of six-over 77s, leading the Chaps with four birdies.
Hayden Bowman is tied for 36th, shooting a 14-over, 156 two-round score. Bowman excelled on par fives, shooting an average, even-par score on the longest holes at the Eagle's Bluff Country Club.
Tiaan de Jager and
Robby Massey are tied for 43rd, both shooting a 22-over, 164 in the first two rounds. Oddly enough, the two both shot 84s in the first round and 80s in the second round. Massey was superb on par fives, shooting a one-under, 4.83 average score.
Jackson Comer is in 46th after shooting a 23-over, 165 in the first two rounds.
Texas Permian Basin leads the field by four strokes, shooting a seven-over, 575 in the first round. The Falcons' Sangha Park leads the individual standings by seven strokes, shooting a seven-under 135 in the first two rounds.
