Chaps finish ninth at King Alfred Spring Invite

BULLARD, Texas - The Lubbock Christian men's golf team closed out play at the King Alfred Spring Invite, finishing ninth overall.

The Chaps improved by one stroke between the second and third rounds, shooting a 27-over, 311 today to finish with an 85-over, 937. For the week, LCU had the third-most pars of any team in the field, finishing with 175. Garrett Auger led the way with 36 for the Chaps, the fourth-most of any individual golfer. 

Braxton Floyd improved by two strokes in the final round, shooting a four-over 75. He finishes the week with a 16-over, 229, and tied for 28th individually. He led the Chaps with six birdies, including two in the final round.

Hayden Bowman also shot a four-over 75 in the final round, improving by four strokes. Bowman finished the week in 31st place with an 18-over, 231 score. Auger finished behind him tied for 32nd after shooting an eight-over 79 in the final round and a 19-over, 232 three-round score. 

Tiaan de Jager finished 46th after shooting a 33-over, 246 for the week, while Robby Massey finished tied for 48th after carding a 36-over, 249. Jackson Comer ended the week in 51st place, shooting a 41-over, 254 three-round score. 

No. 20 Cameron won the team championship, shooting a 14-over, 866 three-round score. Sangha Park of Texas Permian Basin won the individual championship, shooting an eight-under, 205.

The Chaps close out the regular season at the DBU Men's Classic in Denton, Texas. Action begins on Monday, Apr. 3.
