NEW ORLEANS, La. (May 31, 2023) – For the first time in the history of the Lubbock Christian University women's track & field program, they have an All-America recipient presented by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA), as
Anna Salisbury was recognized for her 400-meter performance at the 2023 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field Championships in Pueblo, Colo. With Second Team accolades.
The junior from Leander, Texas competed in the 400-meters and finished fourth in her heat and 11
th in the preliminaries with a time of 53.70. Her time was close to her personal best of 53.65 (school record), which she completed at the Lone Star Conference Championships in Lubbock (May 6) and it had her seeded 10
th heading into nationals. Salisbury also competed in nationals in the 4X400 relay with
Jozlyn Arana,
Reanna Argullin and
Joy Egwu, and they finished with a time of 3:45.73 to complete the preliminaries in 11
th place.
Salisbury is the first All-America selection by USTFCCCA in Outdoor Track & Field in program history (USTFCCA did not oversee All-America honors involving LCU track & field until 2016), and it is the first time any organization has recognized a member of the women's track & field program with All-America honors since the NAIA recognized Ruth Hamilton in 1992.
