LCU Claims Its First Track & Field Athlete of the Week Award of the 2025 Season

RICHARDSON, Texas (April 1, 2025) – The Lone Star Conference announced the newest edition of its Outdoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week list Tuesday, with Lubbock Christian University sprinter Anna Salisbury taking home the title of Lone Star Conference Women's Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week.

For the first time this track season, Lubbock Christian was awarded with the weekly conference honors. Salisbury was named to the following a dominant and record-breaking weekend at the Bobcat Invitational in San Marcos, Texas.

Salisbury snapped her previous personal and school record in the 400-meter dash, by speeding to a time of 53.03. The time sent her to the top of the leaderboard at the meet and gave her the best time in the event nationally. Following her individual performance, Salisbury was a member of the women's 4x400 relay that shattered another Lubbock Christian record. The group clocked in at 3:42.24 and finished as the runner-up at the meet. Furthermore, the relay is currently ranked sixth nationally. Finally, Salisbury was a participant on the women's 4x100 relay that finished with a time of 46.68 at San Marcos, breaking another LCU record.

Salisbury has been on a tear this season, as she was a participant at the NCAA Indoor Championships, broken several records and been recognized with Lone Star Conference honors. Through two meets in the outdoor season, Salisbury has claimed two provisional marks and is seeking to be the only Lubbock Christian athlete to take part in both NCAA Championships as an individual.

Lubbock Christian and Salisbury will return to action this week at the Masked Rider Open, hosted by Texas Tech. The meet was moved up to April 3, following forecasts of poor weather in Lubbock.
