LUBBOCK, Texas - George Garcia and
Olivia Weider highlighted a strong performance for the Lubbock Christian Track & Field program, finishing first in the men's 400 meter dash and women's 3000 meter steeplechase, respectively at the Texas Tech Masked Rider Open this weekend. In total, LCU had 11 top-5 finishes at the meet.
Garcia beat out a strong group of runners to take home gold in the 400 meter dash, running a time of 46.26.Â
Weider ran a 11:51.03 in the women's 3000 meter steeplechase to take home the lone gold for the Lady Chaps. This is Weider's first gold medal of the season.Â
On the men's side,
Aiden Zingone placed second in the 3000 meter steeplechase with a time of 10:53.71.
Ose Olumese finished third in the triple jump with a mark of 14.12 meters. In the discus,
Bryce Spencer placed second with a throw of 55.06 meters. Spencer also placed second in the hammer throw finishing with a mark of 60.20 meters.Â
For the Lady Chaps,
Anna Salisbury ran a 55.19 to finish fourth in the 400 meter dash.
Chloe Trull finished second in the 10000 meter run finishing with a time of 40:18.92.
Amy Tew ran a 42:26.40 to finish fifth in the 10000.
Kylie Knapp place fourth in the 3000 meter steeplechase with a time of 13:39.73. In the hammer throw, Abiail Jones placed fifth with a mark of 47.47 meters.Â
