Chaps Welcome Eastern New Mexico to Town for Final Regular Season Series

Chaps can Claim LSC Regular Season Title this Weekend

LUBBOCK, Texas – The Lone Star Conference regular season title is on the line, as the Lubbock Christian University baseball team welcomes Eastern New Mexico to town for the final regular season series of the season.

Senior Sunday
The Chaps will recognize 14 seniors prior to first pitch of Sunday's series finale. Seniors Carson Ogilvie, Hayden Blair, Chris Shull, Colton Brown, Jaxson Edwards, Josh Akers, Jesse Benavidez, Ryan Ball, Bo Hogeboom, Nate Van Maanen, Logan Ellis, Jarred Gibson, Aydan Alger, and Tyler Hardwick will be honored. Senior day festivities will begin at 12:40 p.m. with first pitch to follow.
 
Around the Horn
  • The Chaps come into the series with a 32-14 overall record after splitting a road series with West Texas A&M last weekend.
  • LCU will claim the Lone Star Conference regular season title with a series sweep AND a West Texas A&M and Angelo State split OR an Angelo State 3-1 series victory.
  • LCU is ranked 9th in this week's ABCA National Poll and 18th in the NCBWA National Poll.
  • The Chaps were ranked 3rd in the latest NCBWA South Central Regional Poll and appeared in the first NCAA Regional rankings of the season.

  • The Chap pitching staff has a 6.73 ERA in 360 total innings of work. Opponents are hitting .280 off LCU pitchers and have struck out 353 times.
The Series
The Chaps and Greyhounds square off for the 91st time on Friday. LCU has dominated the series, going 67-23 all-time against ENMU. Since the 2014 season, the Chaps have gone 15-3 against the Greyhounds. LCU took home a 3-1 series victory over ENMU last season.
 
A Look at the Greyhounds
  • Eastern New Mexico comes into the series with a 21-15 overall record and sits in tenth place in the LSC with a 19-25 conference record.
  • The Greyhounds claimed a series victory over St. Mary's last weekend, outscoring the Rattlers 31-20 in the four-game set.
  • ENMU is in the 5th season with Head Coach Riley Price at the helm.
  • The Greyhounds have outscored their opponents 341 to 338 this season.
  • ENMU is hitting .304 with 302 RBIs and 29 homers this season.
  • Willie Ponce is leading the Greyhounds at the plate this season, coming into the weekend with a .353 batting average, five home runs, and 47 RBIs.
  • The ENMU pitching staff comes into the series with a 7.50 ERA and 308 strikeouts in 360 innings of work. Opponents are hitting .304 with 37 homers and 237 walks against Greyhound pitching.
