Men Finished 5th Overall, Women Place 8th Overall

SAN ANGELO, Texas - The Lubbock Christian Track & Field program wrapped up the 2024 Lone Star Conference Outdoor Championships Saturday evening. LCU took home four gold medals at the meet, as the men's team finished in fifth place and the women placed eighth.

Senior Bryce Spencer took home two gold medals for the Chaps, winning the men's discus and hammer throw. In the discus, Spencer recorded a mark of 54.76 meters to finish first. He threw 61.35 meters in the hammer throw to claim his second gold medal of the meet. Spencer has top-10 national marks in both events this season.

After finishing second in the men's 400 at last season's outdoor conference championships, George Garcia returned this year determined to win the gold. And he did just that, running a 47.12 to finish first. Garcia currently has the fifth fastest time in the nation in the event.

On the women's side, Olivia Weider claimed the only gold medal for the Lady Chaps. Weider ran a 11:08.13 in the 3,000 meter steeplechase, beating the second place finisher by over 10 seconds.

Anna Salisbury also put together a noteworthy performance for the Lady Chaps, setting a new school record in the 400 meter dash with a time of 53.28. She finished fourth in the event, but the time would rank her among the top-5 times in the nation this season.

The team of Elizabeth Florez, Jozlyn Arana, Anika Beukes, and Salisbury took home the bronze in the women's 4X400 meter relay with a time of 3:45.47. Abigail Jones also claimed a bronze medal at the meet, finishing third in the women's hammer throw with a final mark of 46.96 meters.

Coulter Reel set a new school record in the women's heptathlon, finishing with 4,182 points. She breaks her own school record of 4,039 points that she set last season.

In the men's 4X400 meter relay, the team of Chris Rader, Keitron Boyd, Ryan Gordon, and George Garcia finished third with a time of 3:14.50.

Ose Olumese took home the silver medal in the men's long jump with a final mark of 14.38 meters.
