Lady Chaps Freshman Leads Conference With Precision Passing In 2-0 Start

RICHARDSON, Texas (October 1, 2025) – Lubbock Christian University's Camdyn Sears was named Lone Star Conference Freshman of the Week for a second time this season, as she claims an LSC weekly honor for a consecutive week.

LCU opened Lone Star Conference play with a perfect 2-0 weekend at Rip Griffin Center, sweeping Sul Ross State before outlasting Western New Mexico in five sets. The Lady Chaps (10-4, 2-0 LSC) extended their win streak to six games and the strong start marked LCU's first 2-0 conference opening weekend since 2021.

Sears, a freshman setter, directed LCU's offense with precision, totaling 92 assists (11.50/set) to lead all LSC setters in the opening-weekend of LSC play. She dished 38 assists in a sweep of Sul Ross State, then erupted for a season-high 54 assists in a five-set win over Western New Mexico — the most by any setter in the league this week. The Midland, Texas native also posted her seventh double-double with season highs of 23 digs and seven kills against WNMU, while hitting .375 on the weekend. She averaged 13.5 points across the two matches.

Sears has claimed LCU's only LSC weekly accolades this season (three), as she claimed Freshman of the Week honors on Sept. 9 and Setter of the Week accolades Sept. 23 honor. She is the first Lady Chaps member to claim multiple Freshman of the Week honors (second year the LSC has distributed the honor in its weekly honors).

LCU heads out on the road for a three-match road trip for their first conference road matches. The trip gets underway Friday at 6 p.m. in San Antonio, Texas, facing St. Mary's inside Bill Greehey Arena.
