CaNINE Control : Lady Chaps Muzzle Greyhounds in Portales Sweep

LCU Holds ENMU to Negative Hitting Percentage for First Time Since 2018 to Stay Unbeaten in LSC Play

PORTALES, N.M. (October 7, 2025) – Lubbock Christian continued its early-season tear with a dominant defensive display Tuesday night, sweeping Eastern New Mexico 3-0 (25–10, 25–10, 25–15) inside Steve Loy Family Foundation Arena (Greyhound Arena). The victory extended the Lady Chaps' winning streak to nine matches — their longest since a 12-match stretch in 2018 — and improved them to 13–4 overall and 5–0 in Lone Star Conference play.

LCU's defensive effort suffocated ENMU (3–12, 1–4 LSC), holding the Greyhounds to a -.078 attack percentage — the lowest by a Chaparral opponent since Texas A&M International hit -.102 on Oct. 1, 2016, and marking the first time LCU has forced a team into negative territory since Sept. 29, 2018. ENMU's 17 total kills were also the fewest allowed by LCU since Oklahoma Panhandle State was limited to 11 in 2014.

The Lady Chaps combined that defense with sharp efficiency at the net, hitting .289 as a team and posting a season-best 7.0 blocks in a three-set match. Bryleigh Schweer led the front-line effort with four blocks and added five kills on a blistering .500 hitting mark. Lily Bickley added six kills and three blocks, while Camryn Blair provided seven kills.

The defensive dominance extended to the back row, where Abby Dominguez anchored a 53–34 advantage in digs. Dominguez tallied a team-high 17 digs, matched Olivia Elofsson for the team lead with two aces, and added a career-high seven assists. Elofsson contributed 13 digs and two aces of her own to round out a strong all-around night.

Setter Camdyn Sears efficiently ran the offense with 27 assists, eight digs, and three blocks. Emilee Sikora continued her steady play on the outside with a team-best nine kills on .240 hitting.

LCU has now swept Eastern New Mexico in three consecutive meetings, evening the all-time series at 34–34 and improving to 11–19 all-time in Portales.

Game Notes
» LCU held ENMU to a -.078 attack percentage. It is the first time the Lady Chaps have held an opposing team in the negative since Sept. 29, 2018 (-.071 vs. Texas A&M Int'l), and the -.078 is the worst hitting mark by an LCU opponent since they held TAMIU to a -.102 on Oct. 1, 2016 in Laredo, Texas

» ENMU's -.078 attack percentage was their worst hitting mark since Tarleton State held them to a -.081 attack mark on Nov. 11, 2017

» The Lady Chaps had a season high in blocks for a three-set match on the season with 7.0. Schweer led all Lady Chaps with four blocks.

» The Chaps had a 53-34 advantage in digs in the match, as Dominguez (17) and Elofsson (13) each finished in double figures in digs.

» The Lady Chaps' current nine-match win streak is its best since a 12-match win streak in 2018.

» The Chaparrals, one of two teams in the LSC without a conference loss, joining UT Tyler, improved to 5-0 in LSC play, which is their best conference start since starting 6-0 in 2021.

» Dominguez led the Lady Chaps with 17 digs and co-led the team (with Elofsson) with a pair of aces, but she also provided the Lady Chaps a career-high seven assists.

» ENMU had 17 kills, which is the fewest the Chaparrals have held an opponent to since holding Oklahoma Panhandle State to 11 on Sept. 11, 2014.

» With the victory, the Chaps have defeated the Greyhounds 3-0 in three consecutive meetings in the all-time series, which ties the all-time series at 34-34. The Chaparrals improve to 11-19 all-time against the Greyhounds in Portales.
