COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (December 16, 2025) – No. 3 Lubbock Christian University saw a late rally come up short Tuesday night, falling 71–67 to UCCS inside Gallogly Events Center in a nonconference road contest that marked the Lady Chaps' third game of a seven-game road swing and their first loss of the season.

How It Happened
The game commenced with the Chaps'
Meg Meekins hitting a three-pointer, assisted by
Raegan Lee, to open the scoring. The Mountain Lions responded with Breelyn Robinson's layup, keeping the game close.
Tia Johnson's jumper briefly gave the Chaps a 5-2 lead, but the Mountain Lions countered with Ayianna Johnson's layup, followed by a three-pointer from Amyah Moore Allen, leveling the score at 7-7. The quarter concluded with
Kennedy Chappell's layup bringing the Chaps within two points, but Moore Allen's late layup secured a 16-12 advantage for the Mountain Lions at the end of the first quarter. Meekins had five points in the quarter to lead LCU.
UCCS capitalized on their shooting efficiency and forcing LCU into eight turnovers in the second quarter (UCCS was limited to three turnovers the entire first half), extending their lead with a balanced attack. Amyah Moore Allen opened the scoring with a layup at 9:41, and Jayla Jackson-Allen contributed with a jumper soon after for a 20-14 lead. Breelyn Robinson added to the momentum by draining a three-pointer at 7:27 for a 24-14 advantage. LCU's turnover trouble led to UCCS producing a 12-6 advantage in field goal attempts, with the limited LCU scoring chances leading to UCCS outscoring LCU 18-10 in the quarter and taking a 34-22 lead into the break. Meekins (7) and Chappell (5) combined for 12 of LCU's 22 points in the half.
Martie McCoy sparked the Chaps' offense with consecutive three-pointers, narrowing the score to 38-28 in the opening 90 seconds of the third quarter. Despite the Chaps outscoring the Mountain Lions 24-19 in the quarter, UCCS maintained the lead with effective scoring in the paint and timely free throws. LCU had their deficit slip to 46-35 with 4:29 remaining in the frame, but rallied with an 11-5 run capped by a pair of
Mattie Dollar free-throws to trail 50-46 with less than a minute remaining in the period. Robinson ended the quarter with a three-pointer for UCCS (six seconds remaining) to secure a 53-46 advantage. Kennedy and McCoy each had six points in the quarter for LCU.
McCoy hit her third three-pointer of the half 1:37 into the fourth quarter to cut the LCU deficit to 55-50, but UCCS answered with another three-pointer (this one by Jackson-Allan) and the Mountain Lions eventually got their lead back into double figures. After an LCU foul with 3:18 remaining sent UCCS to the line for three free throws, the Mountain Lions extended their lead to 67–55. The Lady Chaps answered with a 12–2 run, fueled by seven points from
Kennedy Chappell and capped by a
Taylor Allen three-pointer with 21 seconds remaining to pull within two, 69–67. Trailing 70–67 in the final 15 seconds, LCU missed a potential tying three, followed by a missed put-back attempt on the ensuing offensive rebound, as UCCS closed out the 71–67 victory at the free-throw line.
Game Notes
» Freshman
Meg Meekins opened the game's scoring with a three-pointer, extending her streak to three-pointer tallied in all 12 games this season. The streak of 12 consecutive games with at least one three-pointer is tied for the 10
th-most in LCU's NCAA scheduling era (started 2013-14 season). The record in the era is 27 by Ashton Duncan during the 2019-20 season. Meekins, who led LCU with seven points in the first half, finished with 12 points for her ninth double-figure scoring effort of the season.
»
Kennedy Chappell led LCU despite the setback, recording her first career double-double with 18 points and 10 rebounds to go along with four assists. Chappell shot 8-of-15 from the field, scored 13 of her points in the second half and seven in the fourth quarter, and has now scored in double figures in seven consecutive games and in 11 of 12 games this season. The performance marked the 21st double-figure scoring game of her LCU career.
» The two teams combined for 49 free-throw attempts, but a deciding factor may have been UCCS's 18-16 edge in points from the line. LCU was 61.5% from the line in the game (16-of-26), with the 10 free-throw misses marking the most since they went 28-of-38 on Mar. 8, 2024 against Texas A&M International (LCU fell in that contest as well).
»
Martie McCoy came alive in the second half. After being held off the scoreboard in the opening half, she ignited the LCU offense in the second half with a pair of three-pointers in the opening 90 seconds of the third quarter. She finished with 11 points for her fifth game of double figures this season (eighth in her LCU career). McCoy, playing in her 88

» Since the beginning of the 2022–23 season, LCU has gone 2–5 in games played during the final week before the Christmas break, including Tuesday's contest. Those seven games represent a notable portion of the program's 27 total losses over that three-season span.
» Playing the third game of a seven-game road swing, LCU dropped to 4–1 in road contests this season after posting an 11–1 road mark a year ago, as its 14-game road winning streak—carried over from last season—came to an end.
» The Lady Chaps fell to the Mountain Lions for the second time in nine all-time meetings (7-2 all-time against UCCS) and for the first time at Gallogly Events Center (2-1). The last time LCU fell to UCCS was Nov. 14, 2014 in a neutral site game in Golden, Colo.
