Lady Chaps' Historic Run Ends in Denver as LCU Falls in NCAA Regional Quarterfinals

LCU’s First NCAA Postseason Appearance Caps Landmark 25-Win Campaign In Program’s Division II Era

DENVER, Colo. (December 4, 2025) – Lubbock Christian University's best season in their NCAA era came to a close Thursday in the Quarterfinals of the NCAA Division II South Central Region, as the No.6-seed Lady Chaparrals fell 3-1 (25-18, 25-20, 22-25, 27-25) to No.3-seed Angelo State inside Auraria Events Center, as the Lady Chaps were appearing in NCAA postseason play for the first time in program history.

LCU (25–8) battled through a physical, high-tempo match in which both teams combined for 105 kills and 26 total blocks. The Lady Chaps were led by Payton Murray, who produced 11 kills—her fifth straight match in double figures and the 12th of her season. Emilee Sikora added 13 kills for her 23rd double-digit performance of the year. Senior middle hitter Lily Bickley closed her decorated career with 10 kills and five total blocks, finishing as one of the program's most prolific attackers and defenders of the rally-scoring era.

Freshman setter Camdyn Sears delivered her fifth consecutive double-double with 39 assists and 11 digs, ending her debut collegiate season with 1,309 assists—now the No. 10 single-season total in program history and the second-highest mark in the rally-scoring era. Senior libero Abby Dominguez anchored the back row with 22 digs, finishing the season with 639. The total stands as the 10th-highest in program history and the fifth-best single-season mark of the rally-scoring era.

The Lady Chaps finished with 47 kills and 10 team blocks, their seventh double-digit block performance of the season. Bryleigh Schweer tied her career high with two solo blocks as part of a four-block effort, and LCU's four solo stuffs marked their second-highest single-match total of the year. Despite LCU's late momentum—winning set three and pushing set four into extended points—the Belles held off the push behind a 19-kill outing from Madi Parrish and a 15-kill performance from Demi Carter.

Angelo State (25–7) hit .210 and produced 16 team blocks while improving to 29–9 all-time against LCU. The meeting was their first in a national postseason event since the 1979 AIAW State Tournament.

Thursday's match also marked the final collegiate appearance for seniors Olivia Elofsson, Bickley, Murray, Schweer and Dominguez, a group that helped guide LCU to new heights, including its first NCAA Tournament berth, an LSC Championship match appearance, and one of the winningest seasons of the program's Division II era.

LCU closes its season at 25–8, tying the program's highest win total since the transition to NCAA Division II and solidifying the 2025 campaign as a landmark year for the program.
