Bickley, Sears Saddle Up as Chaps Tame Mustangs in Wild Ride

Lubbock Christian Extends Win Streak to Six and Opens Conference 2–0 for First Time Since 2021

LUBBOCK, Texas (September 27, 2025) – Lubbock Christian clawed out a five-set win over Western New Mexico on Saturday afternoon inside Rip Griffin Center, as the Lady Chaps held on 3-2 (25-21, 25-27, 22-25, 25-12, 15-11). Their sixth consecutive victory improved LCU to 10-4 overall and 2-0 in the Lone Star Conference, their first 2-0 league start since 2021.
 
LCU had three players in double figures offensively, led by Lily Bickley's season-high 17 kills, her eighth double-digit effort of the year. Freshman Emilee Sikora chipped in 13 kills, while Jade Workman added 11. Abby Dominguez anchored the defense with a game-high 29 digs, her fourth 20+ dig performance of the year. Freshman setter Camdyn Sears delivered a spectacular all-around match, producing her seventh double-double with season-high totals of 54 assists and 23 digs, while also adding a season-high seven kills.
 
Western New Mexico (5-7, 0-2 LSC) was paced by Daphne Posthumus, who tallied 10 kills on a .323 hitting clip and had 10 blocks for the double-double. Hailey Meeks added eight kills and nine blocks, while libero Mikelle McAfee registered 19 digs.
 
Game Notes
» LCU opened 2-0 in conference play for the first time since 2021 (second time since 2018).

» The Lady Chaps improved to 2-2 in five-set matches this season (2-1 at home).

» Dominguez' 29 digs marked her sixth career 20+ dig match and fourth this season.

» Sears posted her seventh double-double of the year, setting season highs in assists (54), digs (23), and kills (7).

» The Lady Chaps, now 3-2 all-time at home against the Mustangs, defeated WNMU for a ninth consecutive time and lead the all-time series 10-7. The five-set win was the second by LCU in the all-time series (2-1 in five-set matches against WNMU) and the first since Oct. 10, 1986. The two teams last played in a five-set match on Oct. 11, 1986.

» Bickley's 17 kills marked her eighth double-figure outing this season and 48th of her career.

» Sikora logged her seventh double-figure kill match of the season.

» Workman reached double-digit kills for the third time in 2025.
 
» The win was LCU's sixth straight overall and fourth straight at home (5-2 at home this season).
 
» LCU's six-match win streak is their longest since opening the 2023 season on a seven-match win streak.

SET 1 | LCU 25, WNMU 21
Lubbock Christian opened the first set against Western New Mexico with a strong offensive performance, quickly pulling ahead with a 6-2 lead, highlighted by Lily Bickley's kill. Emilee Sikora and Bryleigh Schweer contributed effectively, with Schweer making a key kill to keep the momentum on LCU's side. Despite a brief comeback attempt by WNMU, who closed the gap to 20-18 with a service ace from Hannah Haggard to highlight the 4-0 run, LCU maintained their lead. Jade Workman secured a crucial point with her team-leading fourth kill (of the set), and an attack error by Jayden Hughes concluded the set in the Chaparrals' favor, 25-21.
 
SET 2 | WNMU 27, LCU 25
The second set between the two teams was closely contested, ultimately going to Western New Mexico with a 27-25 win. LCU managed to build a mid-set lead, extending it to 19-13 with a series of successful kills, including contributions from Workman and Sikora. However, the Mustangs mounted a comeback, capitalizing on five LCU attack errors to tie the score at 21-21. The set remained tense with neither team maintaining a decisive advantage until WNMU sealed the set victory following consecutive blocks by Daphne Posthumus to close a 3-0 run and the set at 27-25. Workman continued to lead LCU, posting four kills in the frame. WNMU posted seven blocks in the set.
 
SET 3 | WNMU 25, LCU 22
Western New Mexico took an early 2-0 lead in the third set with a service ace from Jayla McDuffie and an attack error by the Chaparrals. LCU responded to tie the score at 3-3 sparked by a kill from Schweer. Olivia Elofsson made an impact with a service ace and a series of points that helped LCU gain a 10-6 advantage. However, the Mustangs regained control with an 8-2 run to lead 15-13, highlighted by two kills from Hailey Meeks. Despite a service ace from Abby Dominguez that tied the score at 21-21, WNMU closed the set 25-22, with Posthumus securing the final point with a kill. Posthumus and Bickley led their respective teams each with five kills in the set.
 
SET 4 | LCU 25, WNMU 12
In the fourth set, the Lady Chaps secured a commanding 25-12 victory over WNMU, led by a series of effective plays from multiple contributors. Sikora and Bickley were instrumental, each notching four kills in the set, with early kills extending LCU's lead early on. Camdyn Sears consistently facilitated scoring opportunities, assisting on several key points (12 assists in the set), including a  big kill by Workman that was part of an 11-2 run to place the score at 22-9. Despite a few errors, LCU maintained their momentum, with Sears delivering the decisive final kill from an assist by Dominguez, sealing the set.
 
SET 5 | LCU 15, WNMU 11
In the decisive fifth set, the Lady Chaps edged out the Mustangs with a 15-11 victory in a set that witnessed four lead changes and several replay challenges. LCU started strong with a kill from Schweer and continued to build momentum with Sikora and Bickley each contributing kills, assisted by Sears. WNMU responded with a series of points, taking an 8-7 lead at the switch, thanks to effective plays by Posthumus and Kaitlyn Salgado. However, LCU regained control as Sears facilitated key kills from Camryn Blair and Schweer. Blair had a kill confirmed by replay that placed LCU with a 12-11 lead. It sparked a 4-0 run to close the match, which was sealed by a kill from Schweer. Bickley led LCU with four kills in the decisive frame.
 
What's Next
The Lady Chaps hot the road for a three-match road trip for their first look at conference road play on the season. Their first stop is San Antonio, Texas to face St. Mary's, which is scheduled for a 6 p.m. start Friday at Bill Greehey Arena.
