PITTSBURG, Kan. (September 8, 2025) – The 2025 Gorilla Classic All-Tournament Team was announced Monday, with Lubbock Christian University standouts Abby Dominguez and Jade Workman earning honors for their performances in the Lady Chaparrals' season-opening weekend.
 
Lubbock Christian University opened the 2025 season with four matches at the Gorilla Classic in Pittsburg, Kan., finishing the weekend with a 2–2 record. The Lady Chaparrals posted sweeps over Truman State and Southern Arkansas while dropping contests to host Pittsburg State and Missouri Western, with the latter decided in five sets.
 
Senior libero Abby Dominguez anchored the back row with an exceptional opening week, recording 70 digs across 14 sets to average 5.0 per frame. She set the defensive tone in the opener against Pittsburg State with 12 digs and two aces, then added eight digs in the sweep of Truman State while helping steady serve-receive with a .919 reception percentage. Dominguez matched her 12-dig mark again versus Southern Arkansas before exploding for a career-best 38 digs in the five-set battle against Missouri Western — the seventh-highest single-match total in LCU's rally-scoring era. She added 16 assists for the week, including six against Truman State, and three service aces while committing just a single reception error over 72 chances. Dominguez's consistency and career-high outing provided the Lady Chaps with a defensive backbone throughout their 2–2 weekend.
 
Sophomore outside hitter Jade Workman delivered one of LCU's most consistent offensive performances across the four matches at the Gorilla Classic, finishing the weekend with 30 kills while hitting .256. She opened with five kills and seven assists against Pittsburg State before showcasing her efficiency in the sweep of Truman State, tallying eight kills on 13 swings without an error for a .615 attack percentage. Workman continued her steady play against Southern Arkansas, collecting five kills and six digs, before capping the tournament with her best outing — a 12-kill, three-block performance against Missouri Western in which she accounted for 13.5 points. Across the week, she added 17 digs and four total blocks, reaching double-figure kills in back-to-back matches and establishing herself as one of LCU's most reliable two-way threats.
 
Along with Dominguez and Workman, LCU received contributions from freshman setter Camdyn Sears, who opened her collegiate career with three double-doubles, including 47 assists and 20 digs against Missouri Western, and from freshman outside hitter Emilee Sikora, who produced her first career double-double with 14 kills and 12 digs in the same match.
 
The Lady Chaps will make a quick trip to Plainview, Texas, on Tuesday to face former Sooner Athletic Conference rival Wayland Baptist at 7 p.m. inside Hutcherson Center before returning home Thursday for their opener at the MCM Elegante Chap Classic, hosting Colorado State Pueblo at 7:30 p.m.
