Â
BALANCED ATTACK
Lubbock Christian added three more goals to their season total in Wednesday night's win, bringing them to an even 20 for the season. Those goals have been scored by eight different players, led by
Augusto Militao, who now has five after a brace against the Buffs. Militao is currently tied for fifth in the conference with 12 total points.
Alex Lachevre also scored against WT and has four goals this season. Another three Chaps have scored at least twice. The Chaps are averaging 12.6 shots per game and putting 42.4 percent of those on frame.
Â
KEEPING UP WITH THE CHAPS
Lubbock Christian junior goalkeeper
Milo Paci made three saves against West Texas A&M bringing his season total to 53. He ranks third in the LSC in that category. Paci has faced 153 shots overall this season in more than 1100 minutes in goal. He has a 1.37 goals against average and a .757 save percentage. In last week's game against UT Dallas, Paci made a career-high 12 saves, which was the most by a Chap in a single game since 2019. Junior
Arath Valdez filled in while Paci was injured, making 14 saves in 135 minutes of action.
Â
IN THEIR DEFENSE
The Chaps allowed just one goal from the Buffs, lowering their goals against average to 1.36, which is tied for sixth in the LSC. They have recorded four shutouts on the year, with their last coming in a 1-0 win against UT Tyler on Oct. 3. LCU opponents are averaging 13.2 shots per game and have put 45.9 percent of those on target.
Finn Wijnen leads all LCU defensive players with 1067 minutes played, and
Carlos Kramer Silva is also over the 1000-minute mark.
Â
LOOKING AT THE LONE STAR
After Wednesday's games, Midwestern State and St. Mary's are still tied atop the league, inching toward a winner-take-all matchup on October 23 to conclude the regular season. Oklahoma Christian is also still unbeaten in league play at 3-0-4 with 13 points. The win against the Buffs jumped and some other league results jumped the Chaps into solo possession of fourth place with 9 league points. After that, there is a cluster of a whopping five teams all tied with seven points each, including Dallas Baptist. The top six teams by points at the end of the regular season will advance to the LSC Postseason Tournament.
Â
NEW KIDS ON THE BLOCK
Lubbock Christian lost a lot from their 2025 LSC runner-up team, which means the 2026 edition of the Chaps have been relying on a number of newcomers. Of the five LCU players who have started all eight games so far this year, three – goalkeepers
Milo Paci and
Arath Valdez, defender
Max Moorahrend and midfielder
Alex Lachevre – are brand new to LCU. The Chaparral leader in shots with 20 – forward
Oli Robinson – is also new, and the Chaps have also relied heavily on newcomers
Finn Wijnen,
Tom Unwin and
Jackson Preece.
Â
ROAD JOURNAL
Road contests have been the number one struggle for the Chaps this season, with an 0-5-0 record in games away from Lubbock. Saturday is the sixth of seven total road games in the 2026 regular season. They went 4-4-2 in road games last season with wins at Adams State, St. Edward's (2) and West Texas A&M. The last time they had more wins than losses in road games was the 2023 season, when they were 3-1-4. Their best season on the road was in 2013, when they went 6-2-0. Patriot Soccer Field features a natural grass playing surface.
