CHAPARRAL HEADERS
- After a two-game homestand, Lubbock Christian University heads back out on the road to take on Oklahoma Christian at 3 p.m. on Saturday in Oklahoma City
- LCU goalkeeper Milo Paci made a career-high 12 saves on Wednesday against UT Dallas, which is the most by a Chaparrals since Oct. 20, 2019
- All five wins Oklahoma Christian has this season came in games in which they recorded a clean sheet. If they have allowed a goal, they have either lost or tied
- LCU freshman Oliver Robinson is tied for sixth in the conference with 27 shots this season and leads the Chaparrals with 12 shots on goal
- Joao Catafesta played the full 90 for the second straight match and the fourth time this season, raising his team-leading minutes total over the millennium mark for the year

BOUNCE-BACK
When the Chaps take on the Eagles on Saturday, they will be looking to bounce-back from a loss – something they have done well so far this season. LCU has won its next game after losing four times this year, and two of those bounce-back wins have been shutouts. Lubbock Christian has only lost back-to-back games once, on their road trip to Colorado. The first of those losses came when they were down a man for 80 minutes, and the second was against a nationally ranked UCCS team.
Â
BALANCED ATTACK
Offensive success has come from all over the field this year for the Chaps, who have a three-way tie for the team lead in points and eight total players with goals scored. The co-leaders of the offense include
Augusto Militao,
Alex Lachevre and
Joao Catafesta, although Catafesta has played center back for the last two matches. Each player has three goals and two assists. Oliver Robinson and
Aron DePaula have both scored twice, and
Jack Brassey,
Lucas Carli and
RJ Rodriguez also have goals. Robinson leads the team in both shots (27) and shots on goal (12) and ranks in the top 10 in the LSC in both of those categories.
Â
KEEPING UP WITH THE CHAPS
UTD's 14 shots on goal on Wednesday night were the most by a Chaparral opponent since 2023, and LCU goalkeeper
Milo Paci saved 12 of them. It was a new career-high for the Frenchman and the most in a game by an LCU keeper since 2019, when Braxton Thorne saved 12 shots. Paci's 45 saves this season are the third-most in the LSC this season, and he missed a game and a half recently due to injury. He has a .763 save percentage and has earned four clean sheets. Junior
Arath Valdez filled in while Paci was injured, making 14 saves in 135 minutes of action.
Â
LOOKING AT THE LONE STAR
With both teams winning on Wednesday night, defending league champion and preseason favorite Midwestern State still holds one-point lead over St. Mary's in the conference standings. The two teams do not meet each other until the final game of the regular season on Oct. 28. Oklahoma Christian and UT Dallas are both still undefeated in league play as well, although both have three draws. The Chaps currently find themselves in a three-way tie for fifth place with UTD, who holds the head-to-head tiebreaker with them, and St. Edward's, who they beat head to head.
Â
ROAD JOURNAL
Road contests have been the number one struggle for the Chaps this season, with an 0-4-0 record in games away from Lubbock. Saturday is the fifth of seven total road games in the 2026 regular season. They went 4-4-2 in road games last season with wins at Adams State, St. Edward's (2) and West Texas A&M. The last time they had more wins than losses in road games was the 2023 season, when they were 3-1-4. Their best season on the road was in 2013, when they went 6-2-0. Eagle Soccer Field has been the home of OC soccer since the men's team began competition in the 1986 season and features a natural grass playing surface.
Â
NEW KIDS ON THE BLOCK
Lubbock Christian lost a lot from their 2025 LSC runner-up team, which means the 2026 edition of the Chaps have been relying on a number of newcomers. Of the five LCU players who have started all eight games so far this year, three – goalkeepers
Milo Paci and
Arath Valdez, defender
Max Moorahrend and midfielder
Alex Lachevre – are brand new to LCU. The Chaparral leader in shots with 20 – forward
Oli Robinson – is also new, and the Chaps have also relied heavily on newcomers
Finn Wijnen,
Tom Unwin and
Jackson Preece.
Â
SCOUTING THE EAGLES
- OC averages 1.417 goals per game, which is exactly the same as LCU and puts the two teams tied for fifth in the LSC
- The Eagles have not lost a game since Sept. 13 against nationally-ranked Southern Nazarene, going 2-0-3 in conference play, including a tie against Midwestern State last week
- Oklahoma Chrisitan's offense is led by Kenzo Shabazz-Edwards, who has five goals in 902 minutes of action
- Dante Caffaro has handled every minute in goal for the Eagles, posting a .762 save percentage on 129 shots faced with a goals against average of 0.91
- Head coach Neil Hilton is an Oklahoma Christian alumnus and in his third season leading the Eagles after previously coaching at Mid-America Christian

A WIN ON SATURDAY WOULD:
• Be the 134th in Lubbock Christian program history (133-115-42)
• Be the 33rd under head coach
Collin Cone (32-32-21)
• Be the Chaps' 13
th win against Oklahoma Christian since the all-time series began in 2010 (12-4-4), but just their fourth win in Oklahoma City (3-1-3)
