ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (February 28, 2026) – The Lubbock Christian University men's track and field team compiled 48 points to place sixth at the Lone Star Conference Indoor Track & Field Championships.

LCU had five podium finishes at the meet, led by Maurice Gray's second-place finish in the long jump. Gray set a new program record in the event with a jump of 7.37 meters. The provisional mark is the 17th-best mark in all of Division II this season.

The Chaps also got a second-place finish from their 4X400 meter relay team. The foursome of Daniel Sianez, Aden Soto, Reuel Campbell and Chris Moffett earned eight points with a time of 3:10.20.

A bronze medal came in the 400-meter, where Sianez had the best Chaparral time, crossing the finish line in 47.12 seconds. He improved one spot from his prelim time to make it onto the podium. LCU also got points from Moffett and Campbell in the event, who placed fifth and sixth, respectively.

Matthew Gordon also had a big jump from prelims to finals, in the 800-meter. Gordon's initial run of 1:52.68 had him in seventh place, but he ended up placing third in the finals run.

Gordon also ran on the distance medley relay team, which placed third too. He was joined by Maximus Mancilla, Joel Morales and Samuel Bryan. They crossed the finish line in 10:26.35.

The Chaps who have recorded NCAA provisional marks this season will await invites to the Indoor Track & Field National Championships, which will be March 13-14 in Virginia Beach, Virginia. The rest of the team will look toward outdoor season, which kicks off March 20 at the West Texas Relays in Canyon, Texas.
