LUBBOCK, Texas (March 27, 2026) – The Lubbock Christian University track & field teams stayed close to home for competition this week, running, throwing and jumping at the Masked Rider Open at the Terry & Linda Fuller Track & Field Complex.

One NCAA provisional mark was recorded by an LCU athlete from jumper
Maurice Gray. His jump of 14.81 meters earned him second in the event and is the eighth-best mark in all of Division II so far this season.

The Chaparrals had a few other top five finishes at the event.
Nathaniel Luna took fifth in the 100-meter, running a 10.52. The senior also placed second in the 200-meter with a time of 21.05.

In the 800-meter, junior
Matthew Gordon placed fifth with a time of 1:52.58

LCU also ran two 4X400 relay teams at the meet, which took second and third. The A squad of
Griffith Reel,
Neveah Anderson.
Christian Saenz and Jaqualand Fields was the second place finishers with a time of 3:15.60.

The Lady Chaps had two in the top five in the 800-meter, including a second place finish from
Isabella Jaime. Her time of 2:17.65 was less than a second away from breaking her personal best.
Lily Rodriguez came in fifth in the event with a time of 2:20.54.

On the distance side,
Amy Tew took fourth in the 5000-meter, which is the best time she has recorded outdoor in her collegiate career.

Lubbock Christian will be splitting the squad next week, sending athletes to the Texas Relays in Austin, the Bobcat Invitational in San Marcos and the SPC Alumni Elite Invitational in Levelland.
