LUBBOCK, Texas (August 30, 2026) – The Lubbock Christian University women's soccer team has to have a short memory, as they return to the field less just 29 hours after they left it to take on Wayland Baptist at 7 p.m. Sunday at the LCU Soccer & Track Complex.
 
LADY CHAP NEWS AND NOTES

• This will be the first time in the history of the Lubbock Christian women's soccer program that they will play matches on back-to-back days of the week
• Lubbock Christian and Wayland Baptist were once rivals when the former was still a member of the Sooner Athletic Conference in the NAIA. The teams have met eight times in women's soccer overall, and the Lady Chaps are 6-1-1 all-time against the Pioneers. The last meeting was in 2023, which LCU won behind goals from Emily Douglas and Lexi De La Cruz
• Logan Holloway scored the lone goal for the Lady Chaps in their season-opening loss on Saturday. It was just the second goal of the sophomore's collegiate career
• Lubbock Christian went 4-4-1 on their home field last season. Including Sunday's game, they have eight home games left this season. The LCU Soccer & Track Complex was completed in August of 2020 and features an AstroTurf playing surface, a Musco lighting system to allow for night games and stadium seating for 500 fans. LCU's women's team has an all-time record of 70-37-24 all-time in home games
• With three saves on Saturday, LCU goalkeeper Emma Wright surpassed the century mark in her collegiate career. She now has 101 saves as a Lady Chap

 
SCOUTING THE PIONEERS

• Wayland Baptist opened their 2026 campaign on Thursday, falling 2-0 at home to Adams State
• The game will act as a bit of a homecoming for a number of Pioneer players, as six of them hail from the city of Lubbock
• During the 2025 season, WBU averaged just 1.05 goals per game while allowing an average of 2.38 goals per game
• Head coach Alex Castaneda is in his third season leading the Pioneer program and is 9-23-5 in his time at the helm
• Wayland Baptist was picked to finish seventh in the 10-team Sooner Athletic Conference, earning 31 points in the poll
